No Audio After Using DVD Shrink

I was not able to find anyone to answer this question in the DVD Shrink forum and wanted to throw it at some of the more seasoned forum members.
I am ripping Hellboy and have done it a couple times, but I do not seem to get the audio to play. The same thing happened last night to 13 Going On 30, perfect video and no audio.
I even have used Re-Author mode and only backed up the movie, without the extras, and kept every audio stream there is, even the french and spanish!!
After I do the backup to my hard drive, I use powerdvd to preview the files I copied and I get a perfect video, but no audio.
Could it be a problem with my computer DVD player/software and not a problem with the actual copy that is on my hard drive, so I just need to burn it to DVD and play it?

Yeah, the same thing happened to me and I took a chance and burned it anyway. It came out ok but I'm wondering why lately with movies like 13 going on 30 and First 5o Dates the audio will not play using Power DVD XP version 4. Maybe we need to use Power DVD verision 5?

Just tried it with a trial version of PowerDVD 5 and it works just fine. There is an update for version 4 but I don't know if that takes care of the problem?

Did you remove some sound options when you backup with DVD Shrink ? ( i.e. uncheck French, Spanish options etc... ) Doing this in DVD Shrink may cause muting problem in some DVD movies .
PowerDVD 5 will not cause muting problem . Sound drivers may cause jerky problems in PowerDVD 5 though : when I used Total Recorder driver in my system.

The same thing has happened to me before with Old School. I tried three times and switched programs.

does the first stream in the IFO contain an audio?
stream 0 it is the default stream used by PowerDVD when you just open a VOB. What happens if you play the DVD by loading the VIDEO_TS.IFO?. You can also right click and change the audio stream that way
what happens if you load the DVD back into DVDShrink?
can you still see the audio or even preview it?
have you tried another DVD player to see if it's just PowerDVD related?

I just loaded and burned my first DVD with Shrink 3.2
It's a coaster. Plays on my PC, but the audio cracks every half-second like a skipping record. The DVD won't play in my DVD Player. It recognizes there are tracks on the disk, but won't work after that.
I compressed the disk, "Something's Gotta Give" to about 65%. I also used that new ACE at the default "sharp" setting, which is supposed to improve the video.
I had sucessfully used the previous version of DVD Shrink (3.1) with no major problems.
Might be a fluke, but I don't know. You guys might want to wait until they de-bug this one.

Ok, I re-burned the "Something's Gotta Give." I started from scratch after a full restart.
The DVD now works on my player, but like others are experiencing, it will not play correctly on my computer. So strange that my other "coaster" DVD would play on computer, but not on DVD???
Anyway, I am able to pull up the individual .vobs and play them, but THEY HAVE NO AUDIO on my PC.
Also, just to let you know, I compressed to 65% and used the "Sharp" default ACE thing again. I'm not impressed that the new ACE does anything. In fact, I will definately try the "smooth" one next time, as this seems too sharp and hard. The whites and off-whites look very grainy and crappy -- might be due to the 65% compression, but I feel like the ACE in the "sharp" mode actually accentuated the grain. Ick.
Guys, stick with 3.1 for now. Especially if you plan to use computer playback.

Hi all. :)
To all: this is a known-issue.
Often, when playing the VOB files individually with your software player, audio and/or subpicture streams will appear to be missing.
The reason is the information neccessary for the player to know what streams to play by default is contained in the IFO files (not accessed when playing a VOB).
Select the VIDEO_TS.IFO file instead, and you will see/hear the backup as it was intended to be. ;)
Baccusboy, "Something's gotta give" doesn't have a great quality to start with, so making a Full-disc backup at 65% will not yeld very good results.
As you mentionned, "Smooth" or "Maximum Smoothness" (which will yeld results similar to IC8) might better options in this case.

hi
i've rip a chapter wit dvdshrinker.
if i play from pc all ok but if i play
from dvd-reader from tv the audio is not present.
what can i make ?

Have you tried using your DVD player remote control to change the audio?
What audio stream did you keep?
- AC3 2CH.
- AC3 5.1.
- DTS.
- ...
