I am using Nero Express ver6 to burn DVDs. If I try to burn a huge AVI file (15 GIG file), the burn is successful, but the DVD does not play on my computer or DVD player. If I break that file into five 3 GIG files and burn them using Nero Express, the DVD plays fine. How can I burn the large file without the time consuming task of breaking the file down into smaller chunks and still have it play correctly?
HELP!!!
>I suspect you mean the NeroVision Express software
Yes. That's what I meant.
>What version of NeroVision Express are you using?
Version 6.something . I will look it up tonight
>Did you try upgrading to see if this resolves your issue?
No. I did install Nero Updates, but that doesn't seem to help
>How much space is used on the DVD when you created the DVD-Video with the full 15gig AVI file?
Compression is about 1:4 i.e. the 15 gig file compresses to about 4 Gig
>Does it play back on your Computer without problems?
No it doesnt play on my computer either
The latest NeroVision Express is version 2.1.2.16 on our website. But there will be a new release within the coming week.
It's very unusual for a burn to complete without errors, and yet the disc is not playable even on the drive that created it.
It's has happend before, but it's always been caused by poor media, poor power to the recorder, or a defective recorder.
Do you have trouble when you create a normal Audio CD or Data CD, as far as playback?
I would suggest at this point that you upgrade to our latest NeroVision if you do not have the latest, and make sure you have the latest firmware for your recorder. Then try the burn again, and try with more than one brand if DVD media if needed.
I have downloaded Nero updates. I will try it tonight. Thanks for the tip.
BTW, I've tried burning CDs, VCDs, SVCDs, DVDs with files smaller than 4 GIG and they all work fine. I can play back all of them on the computer and DVD player. Only problem is with large file DVDs. What happens is, once it is burned, if I go to the DVD directory through windows explorer, when the file size is small, I can click on the .IFO file and it will play fine. With the larger file, Nero splits the file into parts. I can play all the subseqent .IFO files, but I can never play the first file.
