My burner will not read any type of dvd -/+ RW. It reads cd-r..it plays discs/dvd but whenever I insert a a dvd-r disc it wont recognize. This is why I cant burn after ripping using shrin. I have updated the firmware and it is brand new do to the fact that my last burner did the same and I thought it was broke. It is an NEC dvd-rw 2510 dual layer. It used to work fine and one day it just stopped reading dvd-r. ANy help will be greatly appreciated and I will 100% honour my offer in the subject to anyone that can remedy this. Thanks for your time

Cyan,

Hehehe, lets start with the media, what brand are they? What brands of dvd-r worked for you before?

Try re-installing your shrink with the latest version.

Right Click My computer and then select properties. Click the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Open the DVD/CDROM and the right click the burner and uninstall it. Shut down the PC and reboot and Windows should reinstall it again and it may just sort it out :)

another thing to try is unistalling your burning software and reinstalling that too

have you tried using the ISO output of DVDShrink and then burning with DVDDecrypter?

have you tried DVDINFO or DVDIdentifier on a disc? http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

I suppose you could also try getting the demo of CloneDVD and see if that recognises your disc
