I've been using dvdrb along with cce 2.67 for about 5 months and haven't had any problems, but just started doing 3rd season of the sapranos and now during rebuild I'm getting this buffer underrun #0003 error. I can't get on doom9's forum, anyone have any ideas ?

Did you do any editing (removing titles, menus, etc,...) before running it through DVD-RB?

Only thing I've done was remove unwanted sound tracks, with DVD Shrink. Which is what I've done with the previous seasons.

I don't know what to tell you then. I also run just about every backup through DVD Shrink and it hasn't caused me any problems either. It's possible jdobbs will be stopping by here some time, but I can already tell you that he'll say you should run the original disc through DVD-RB to see if it still happens. Unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions either. You could try starting from scratch again with Shrink, but other than those 2 suggestions I can't think of anything else.

Just tried a regular movie and though I made it further into the rebuild (80%) I still got that error. I think the only differences in my software is: 1st The latest avisynth alpha 2.55 2nd dvdshrink 3.2 3rd yesterday I installed xp sp2 build 2179, I had encoded fine with the first two changes, but not with the new sp2. It might be that is causing me grief. I know sp2 final will be out soon.

I seem to remember seeing somebody on Doom9 who was having problems with DVD-RB an Alpha build of AviSynth. You might want to try using the latest stable build and see if that helps.

When you say "Just tried a regular movie" do you mean another DVD that you edited? Or, did you try running an unedited movie through yet?
I had the #0003 problem 50% of the time when I first started. I was using DVD Remake Pro for my re-authoring. Shortly thereafter, both Remake and RB issued upgrades. That solved the bulk of the problem. Since then, I have found that once in a while my edits just don't make it - be it with Shrink or DVD Remake Pro. When that happens my next step is to send the whole movie through. If I can accept the quality, I go with it.

I meant it was a movie , not a series. Well I've tried stable versions of avisynth, reloaded the earlier beta sp2 I was using and still no go. I'm going to rip with shrink 1.7 and see what happens.
I had been using shrink 3.2 with no troubles on several movies.

Have you tried to run an unedited movie through DVD-RB/CCE? I would suggest this as a starting place to make sure all the software is working together. While I have had the #0003 errors with heavily edited movies, I have never had a non-edited movie fail!!!

It is recommended to use Avisynth 2.54... If I remember correctly when Doom 9 was working, their thread on Rebuilder said not to use latest vrsion of Avisynth.
Does anyone know what happenned to the original DVD Rebuilder thread over @ Doom9? Does not work.

Trying not to confuse things here ... but here is the link to AviSynth's download site: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=57023
It shows version 2.5.4 as the latest release. I am using it with Rebuilder .56 and CCE Basic 2.69. The only time I have a problem with #0003 is with a heavily edited movie ... using either Shrink 3.2 or Remake Pro 2.3.4.
Concerning Doom9, the site is currently down.
EDIT: Typo. Rebuilder version changed in text here to .56. Was .56b.

Just to be clear on Doom9, the main site (with the guides and articles) is still up if you need to look for instructions there, but the forums have been down since Tuesday or Wednesday.
@1Adonis4u: I'm pretty sure you're correct about the recommendation on Doom9 to stick to the latest stable version, and I know there has been at least one person there who solved their DVD-RB problems by switching from an alpha to a stable version.
@motool: To the best of my knowledge there is no 0.56b, just 0.56. There was a 0.55b which is probably why people seem to occasionally misstate the version.

Well this time I used dvd decryptor to rip the dvd and used dvdrb to select which audio tracks I wanted. Encodes just fine, errors out on the rebuild. this is frustrating, I could understand if I just started using dvdrb, but like I said I've been using it for months.

It's possible that there's something about this disc that's done in a way Shrink wasn't designed to deal with. It seems strange that this could be the case since all you did was remove audio tracks, but the more DVDs I've backed up using the more advanced methods, the more of them I see where things were done in non-standard ways. I'd even go so far to say that the way many DVDs are authored is just plain wrong, particularly ones that come from smaller authoring houses. In some cases (Disney DVDs for example) I'd attribute this to malice. To put it plainly I think Disney (and some other companies) make sure there are features on their DVDs that make them difficult to backup. In other cases I'm fairly convinced that there are people authoring the DVDs that just don't know how things are normally done, and have figured out unusual ways to cobble together a DVD to get the effect they want. Some days it's enough to drive me to drink (more).

It's understandable Doc. I can't tell you how many times I've seen that same mistake made on Doom9.

I was reading up on possible bugs in the official sp2 and
read something about the aspi.sys file. I got to looking and found that mine wasn't updated, because Daemon Tools locks it. I updated it with the latest from sp2. My question is could this be causing my rebuild troubles ?

If you're using a mounted image as your source it would certainly be worth trying. Otherwise it shouldn't make any difference.

Still a no go, I think dvdrb has issues with sp2. I've tried 5 different dvds and still no luck.

Well it turned out that it was CCE SP 2.67.0.27 causing the problem, I went back to 2.50 and all is well again. Haven't tried 2.67.0.23 yet, but it should work. Didn't know that it wasn't recomended that you use .27 with dvd rebuilder.
