Not probable with RMC. What I can see if the file is being captured properly, it would have shown a steady stream(s) of files running in RMC windows, for my case it just appear and vanish without stopping, just like a flip animation ride. New names appear each time. Yes, I have nFLV player to view files full screen. Thanks alot jondavis, I will try to fiddle with it when I have completed projects at hand, and share the knowledge here, thanks alot.

And do you have a flv player to play the file?

Not sure why I can download the files and others are having trouble.
I am using Mozilla Firefox, maybe that will help to try that.
I could capture the video here and upload it somewhere if that will work?

hey all... this thread is useful, but still having trouble.
I need the video here:
http://video.nbc5.com/player/?id=160482
I can get what must be a container (embed.swf), and have tried opening it in hex editor (just read about what this is and downloaded a mac version), but there's soooo much text, I can't locate anything that looks like an address for another, real swf...
can anyone more experienced/savvy/knowledgeable help me figure it out?
thanks!

Thanks alot jondavis.
I have already got the solution at the very first place, just give the video one run and I can get the file within cache. However it is not possible if I were to try with download accelerator (which uses URL extracted from the embeds). This is a wonderful thread and a nice place to share my unique case, keep it up and again, jondavis rocks.

Hello there,
I have tried many options and solutions of this thread I still can't figure it out :-(.
I am able to download the .swf file but it is only a 80 Kb file that miss almost everything.
It is a flash quizz I want to be able to use offline with my students (yes there is still some areas on this planet that do not have a free easy to access Internet connection 8|).
If someone can download it and explain me how then great if not then sniff.
Here's the link

I pulled up Page Info in Firefox for this page:
http://fanclub.springawakening.com/sights
In the list on the Media tab I see; /flash/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
When I highlight it and check Address below I see; /flash/FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf
This is not an URL that I can go to to get the video. How can I find the actual location of the video?

Real Media Catcher that I posted earlier works for aaronlain's video.
But I can't get it to record from here (http://konkan.tv), sorry Gnair77.
You might try one of the other methods, not sure why it does not see it.

Hello,
This is a great site. I found so much useful info. Thanks to all the experts for their time and knowledge.
I would like to download and save the flash video located here:
http://www.thekristo.com/site/pp.asp?c=9oIDLROyGoF&b=409877
I tried to figure it out using the many tutorials located here with no success.
Any help appreciated. (I would also like to know how you did it!)
Thanks.

I tried to figure it out using the many tutorials located here with no success.
this is very simple. Look in View--> Page Source from Firefox menu (I hope you do not use Internet Explorer...) Then look for the entry for .swf. This site uses Shockwave Flash. I found a link that said thekristo.swf. When I copied the address into top bar, with hxxp://www.thekristo.com/atf/cf/%7BA6162F41-9606-4DD8-8E00-79E16239A89C%7D at beginning it easily took me to the page. The flash loaded into firefox CACHE directory (i could see it save there), and I copied to desktop and renamed as "kristo.shockwave.swf" with no problems.
Thank you for the great site. Jesus rocks!!!

i was able to extract the swf file easily. Which browser are you using? If not firefox, getfirefox.com right now :)
Look in the cache directory, or view source & look for .SWF reference. 99% of sites are so easy to get the file from. Only when they use multiple .htm files & noframes does it become difficult.

Any ideas?
Well I figured it out. You need a corresponding .dat file that I guess has the data in it. So what I did was open up my temporary internet files folder and viewed the website with the shockwave file on it. Then I copied the .dat file into the directory of the .swf file and it now works!

Hello, I'm trying to download this ridiculous John K. movie here:
http://www.nameless.net.au/spid3r/videos...i0d/random.html
I tried the tutorial but I guess I'm too dumb to figure out a hex editor. Also I tried a few firefox plugins but I can only seem to download the flash file that links to the video itself. Arrgggghhhh!

No luck with Opera, downloaded as dcache4.url file~ (anyone has good steps to convert this into other files and not retain the 'shortcut' nature of itself?) Thank you.

Hi,
My first post.
I've been trying for hours to download this video for work:
http://video.knbc.com/player/?id=184982
Can someone help? I tried Firefox, I've tried three or four programs. Nothing works? It is an embedded video from a News site in LA. Can someone please help me? Ican't find where the video is originating.
Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the tutorial, but I have been attempting to obtain copies of 2 .swf files from AMERICAN GREETINGS for three years now. These are the same two files you helped Elayne obtain last November (Survival Song and U Can't Stuff This). Now they are not available? Now, this year they have a Bird With No Tomorrow. Like Elayne, I would pay to have this file.
AND ELAYNE---if you read this, and you would email me those two files from last year I would pay you. Any help from you guys would be so very welcome and I would be immensely grateful.
The MOderator removed the link but it has no viruses. It was to American Greetings. I am a registered paying member. Do you need the link to help me obtain the file? If so let me know.
Thanks so much!

Freddy04 have you tried this yet?
http://applian.com/replay-media-catcher/demo.php
I downloaded one clip from America Greetings with it.
After I downloaded, it did not automatically play after I clicked on it.
It brings up Macromedia Flash Player 8 then you have to click on Control from the menu above and select Play.
