ALCOHOL 120% cant read/write at 1X HELP.

I have a pioneer 107d v1.16, and when i use Alcohol 120 i cant burn at 1X to backup Final Fantasy VIII.?.?.?. It automatically reads/burns at 4X which results in coasters and i have a lot.
i checked the drive speed through nero and it only says it is running at 40X i cant choose anything lower?!?!?!
This is really odd because when i use decrypter i can burn at any speed, does anybody have some info for me? I have been trying to work this out for 2 days and i have one bugger of a headache. Thank-You.

The lowest speed you can burn a cdr is 4x! I burn at 16x with alcohol and have never had problems or coasters.
I suspect the actual problem is booting.
How are you booting the game?

odd since DVD Decrypter cannot burn cdrs... you can change the speed settings but you wont be able to burn any cdrs lol =)

Great thanks for replying so fast. I recently got a mod-chip installed in my ps1! And every time i try to play my backup it only gets to the black playstion logo screen, then nothing.
I was told by a friend that i would only be able to read/write at 1X to get a working copy! Are they talking crap? mongrels.
And with dvd decrypter, sorry i should have explained better i was rushing to get the post up, i have no problems burning a dvd. I was starting t think it was my burner causing the problem.

And i know my console plays backups because i tried a few, they worked fine, just not my backup.

Are the working backups on the same cd-r (Verbatim)? And have you tried backing up any other games?

To backup a Ps1 CD correctly, just follow these steps:
1) Use the copy wizard to create a ccd image file.
2)Make sure the datatype is set to Playstation!
3)Burn the image file at your prefered speed 4x, 8x or my personal favourite 16x =)

If you've followed these steps and still cant get the backup to work then I suggest you try a different cd-r brand. TDK are good for Ps1 and Ps2 cd games.

Hi, just want to say that i have burnt ps2 cd-rs downloaded from bittorrent network with DVD Decrypter and works flawlessly, just have to go to Tools-Settings-Iso Write tab and in the Write Mode select CD insted of DVD.
(DvD Decrypter ver.3.5.1.0)
