What site do you get firmware 610 and 049S for the MU1
I don't see them at the official ilo 05 site

http://www.iloservice.com

PS The ZU and the MU models use different chips
The ZU is the Older Unit
If one feels they have a need for this unit by all means get it. IT has less features than the MU series

TO clarify

ilo is a WalMart Brand [Requardless who manufactured it]
The MU has the same interior guts as the Cyberhome 1600
The Cyberhome 1200 is the same as the MU or1600 without the DV input, the electronics are there, just no connection

To whoever was talking about editing the menus, please, could you email me and tell me how to (or what programs) get my dvd burns onto my computer and edit the menus and what not?

Please.

I emailed tech support and they emailed them to me. Bear in mind that they only work on the DVDR05MU1.

You'd think sooner or later they'd ad a like for the MU1. Maybe they are trying to dump all the older models first.

Here is what I do. I run a cable from the Video and audio out jacks on my VCR to the front audio and video inputs of the DVD recorder. This keeps the back A/V lines in use by my Sat. box. No need to do cable swapping.

It doesn't look nice, but all you need to do when not recording is to unplug the cable from the DVD recorder and tuck them out of the way.

Naturally, newer VHS titles may have Macrovision, which stops the DVD recorder cold.

Thats interesting. I contacted ilo service just last week related to this issue on another site.
They informed that the MU1 has the latest firmware and there is no update, only for the MU
They said that they would email me an ISO version of the update for the MU, Which they had already sent but sent it anyway
I'll give them another call

Is there a video stabilizer that will work with this unit? The ZU model, I mean? If so, could someone link me to it?

Latest Firmeares for the MU1 are: 610 and 049S both front and back end.
Must get from iLo Service.
[Jaysinn]
Yes. This one works. It won't solve time base issues, but it does remove Macrovision.

That plainly says it won't work with ILO Technologies DVD Recorders.

Have you personally tried it?

Interesting. Originally, when I bought mine, it indicated it wouldn't work with the iLo DVDR04. Since mine is a DVDR05, I was fine.

I see *now* they changed their site.

Nonetheless, my DVDR05 and this device get along fine. The "copy block" does not happen on my machine.

I haven't tried it since I upgraded firmware though.

Hey guys, I got a quick question to ask. I have a dvdr04 that I had to send in for repair back in Dec. I kept in contact with Ilo until the first week in march when they told me that the recorder never made it to the plant. By that time I had thrown away my records from the post office. After three diffrent calls to Ilo support and a bit of vulgar language they said they were unable to help. So i went to E-bay and found a dvd05 MU1 for $50.00. Guess what came in the mail yesterday. Yep dvd04 I am Pi!*ed. Is this recorder worth selling or should I just chunk it. The paperwork with it says it has been repaired. Help!!

i have a ilo dvdr05/mu and have had nothing but problems with it stopping and freezing during playback. Upgraded the firmware from their site -- but i still cannot get thru an hour straight playback without a freeze up and then it wont even recognize any disc - goes to stop - or asks me to format the disc. This happens both with rented dvds and with dvds that i have recorded. It is NOT the discs, since they play fine on the computer and on my other dvd player.
It seems like after it runs for 20 mins. or so it dies, till it sits overnight and then will play for 20-30 min. only.

I have only used it to record a couple of times, and i did not have a problem there-- playback only.

If i can find my receipt -- itll be back to walmart, and ill buy one made in JAPAN not CHINA.

Well you get what you pay for. I guess theres a reason the panasonic DVD recorders are $300.

Hey, I got the New RO5MU1 it was working great until a week ago , i got one for myself in Dec of last year, and opened it in Feb. I made about 40 DVD and then it started acting up. It's hard to find support for the models because Wal-mart no longer sells them. The DVD makes a scraching noise when i try to format a new disk but the CD/Music works fine.I can't get in touch with anyone from the company to get it fixed or return the product. I'll keep everyone posted on the results.

I havent posted in about 6 or 8 months, but I thought I should give everyone a mention on how well my 05zu is running...

Almost 2 years later, and it is still working fine, with exception to what I have posted about in the past (DVD brand compatibility). Also found out my mother bought an 05zu as well and is reporting nothing but success with it, after ditching her high end Emerson dvd recorder, that she payed 300.00 for.... It wouldnt even finalize.... sure it would go through the really long 30 min finalizing process just to kick it out.... she is happy as am i, so that is 2 people in the same family with working 05zu's, HUH isnt that funny.

I bought one a few months ago and my room mate moved out and i was using a tv w/o AV jacks for about a month

well i finally got back home and got my bigger and newer TV from home and hooked the Ilo up to it, well it works fine, except i cant format discs!!! it gets to 99% and just quits, it doesnt lock up because the hour glass thing is still moving it just never formats and know its a problem because i left it alone for two days to see if it would ever format and it didnt ater over 48 hours, just stayed on 99%

the only way i can use it then is to unplug the unit and it asks me to format again i say no and it ejects the disc

any ideas?
