One of my HD4870s will run Left 4 Dead admirably at 2560x1600 though, not with AA. Two of them do a far better job when the AA is enabled though, and 8xAA ups the minimum frame rate from 40 to about 65 (even though the average is at least 100 with only two GPUs).
Left 4 Dead isn't the most demanding game out there at the moment, nowhere near it.

Ive had GTA IV averaging over 50. But it wasn't the highest highest settings either. Windows 7 seems to be running even better this time around. Gonna have to install that tomorrow, and see how ITS doing LOL! I think XP with its outdated Direct X, and minimal Ram, just wasn't enough.
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Then it's simply a case of using two monitors at once? All you need to do to do that is right click->properties on your desktop and go to the settings tab. Click the number 1 or 2 and you see two tickboxes:
Use this device as the primary display
Extend my windows desktop onto this display
If neither are ticked, you won't see a signal on the screen. If both are ticked it becomes the display for windows, with your taskbar, desktop icons etc.

Rick: How exactly have you connected it? TVs don't have DVI ports, so I assume you're using DVI to HDMI?
Omega: Same game engine, L4D2 shouldn't be much more demanding at all.

That's VGA then, not DVI... You're using a DVI to VGA adapter?

In catalyst, in the displays manager section, do both the displays show up in the diagram? The 'attached displays currently disabled' box should be empty.

omegaman7 : Have you EVER gotten a signal through the secondary port?
If your talking to me I don't understand
B4 I installed THE ATI Catalyst & Drivers the Monitor and TV both worked
But the Monitor was not as crisp, I guess the TV looked OK..But I have nothing to compare it to as it will not work with ATI Catalyst & Drivers

Well...Im afraid ive been chiefly nvidia throughout my computer endeavors LOL! No, im not a fanboy, ive simply felt that there was no need for change, AMONG OTHER THINGS. I have been tempted by ati multiple times.
If I were you, I would do a complete uninstall of ALL ati. Anything pertaining to ati, remove it. I would even comb the registry! But I don't know. Perhaps there is an easier way out there...
Im afraid ive never dealt with anything like your dealing with now. Be quite the coincidence at this point, to be hardware related!
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

The TV should still show up before windows loads, whether or not there are graphics drivers installed. Does it?
The amazing thing about all this is that ATI actually have better HDTV than nvidia, and I'll be honest, with VGA it's usually an absolute cakewalk.

LOL you guys don't half move fast I miss a day to hangoverness and theres 47,000 posts to read.
Originally posted by rich: WTF! I never heard of that - you're a miracle worker - you should take Jeff's job in that PC shop. [i](I hope you didn't try that on the after prom party lass who was hit by the car - bad joke, sorry.)
I didn't make it clear that when I installed Catalyst driver stuff it broke again and I discovered the cause was an option that I'm sure wasn't there before was turned off something called geometry instancing which I have zero understanding about other then TURNING IT OFF BREAKS THINGS!!!
Originally posted by omegaman7 trying to cripple someone's PC: I would even comb the registry!
I combed the registry trying to fix above problem and ended up with completely mauled graphics drivers on the re-install needing a system restore not cool!
Originally posted by shaff: ummm prom>PC forget ur PC and games, prom is somethign you jsut shouldnt miss, esp when there will be hott girls! :D
ROFL kissed my prom date :-) but then at the afterparty while VERY VERY drunk I told a lass who I've been good friends with for years that I'd f*** her but she's way out of my league
Hey Sam stop insulting me I run 1440x900 its the max my TV which is the only thing I have by way of a monitor runs.
Rick: I believe your problem is your trying to use the TV settings when its connected via a standard monitor connector which means you should be using the normal everyday monitor settings-Ignore/turn off anything TV based and concentrate on things like dual monitor settings and so on.
I could put something funny here but I cant be arsed. Now GO AWAY!

geometry instancing is just that, and if you disable it, shapes aren't formed properly, which explains what you saw. Fortunately I never saw fit to disable it :P
Not meant to insult you (there are several resolutions below 1440x900) but when someone came and said it was the most popular resolution, I was responding with a little more factual accuracy :P I was also referring to monitors, not TVs. 1440x900 doesn't sound right for a TV either, as TVs only have three display types, 1024x768, 1366x768 and 1920x1080. If you have the latter, you should be able to get all the way up to 1920x1080, 1680x1050 included. if the middle (which I suspect), then 1440x900 is a rescale, which will look nasty. 1280x720 is more suitable.

It isn't actually widescreen its slighty taller then a proper widescreen telly which is what I've always put it down to but any resolution above 1440*900 makes it go all weird and not in the middle and broken (yes I have tried calibrating it or whatever its called).
Also it is Wharfedale which on closer inspection is an American company that makes speakers and in the UK is nothing more then the name given to stuff made by Argos.
I could put something funny here but I cant be arsed. Now GO AWAY!
