I'm just trying to point out a significant portion of the population still has a screen size of 19" or under :P With my next monitor I'm kinda tempted by 1920x1200 :)

Irrelevant, most gamers don't, and most normal users still use 1280x800 laptops or 1280x1024 older 5:4 monitors. I'm just trying to convice you that 1440x900 isn't as common as you think. I tend never to recommend it because 900 vertical pixels is a little on the cramped size. Despite the lower horizontal count, 1024 vertical makes 1280x1024 more attractive imo.

I hate my 1280x1024 screen, that's why it's hooked up to the non gaming PC - human vision is 'letterbox', so obviously the closer to that the better.

And you tell that to the 720 lined 360 and PS3 ;)

I know I have a 'small' monitor, but the fact of the matter is that over half the population will have the same (counting 1280x1024 as the same cos there's little between the two) or lower...

EDIT:

1280x1024 - 26%
1024x768 - 18%
1680x1050 - 18%
1440x900 - 11%
1280x800 - 6%
1920x1200 - 4%

And so on...

I love my 1920 x 1200 monitor. But now im itching for 2560 x 1600 Dell/samsung! Cant wait for that badboy! I suppose its possible by the time im ready to buy the next step up, there will be either a new technology, or simply a higher res monitor. That would be my luck :P

I don't really see normal monitors going above 2560x1600 for a long time - especially considering that's the maximum resolution of practically every graphics card out there... I want OLED screens :o

The successor to LCD eh. Sounds impressive.
Oled Display
Uses less electricity, no need for backlight (perfect for laptops), and can be thinner displays.

Sign me up LOL! :D

They also have a larger colour gamut and a much larger contrast ratio. They're already used in a fair few small screens; my old iRiver Clix 2 had an AMOLED screen :)

The iPhone 3GS does seem very nice (since I'm typing this on an iPod Touch 2G and I love the thing) - it's just a shame it costs so much... Though all smart phones are overly expensive.

All I need now is a Windows Mobile 7 (now rebranded to Windows Phone) device, an Android device and possibly the Palm Pre for WebOS and I'm set (go away and rot, Symbian :P). HTC make very nice Windows and Android phones - want a HTC Touch Pro2 :) The Toshiba TG01 looks really nice too (1GHz Snapdragon processor anyone?).

800x480 resolution for the Pro2 and the TG01 ^.^

damn you, just checked out the TG01!!!! OMG!

and the HTC hero is enticing, im, loving the "chin", keeps the screen from dying.

yep i had an iphone 3g, which i sold faulty, cause apple said its be £150 to repair, due to the water damage marker being flagged, though i have read that sweaty palms can set that off!. i have never had it near water.

I'm having problems getting the Computer screen on my TV. I've tried about three different types of ATI,the latest being ATI 9.3[XT1600]. If I remove the drivers and Catalyst its fine, but the Quality is not the same

Shokz: Rage! They're not the same! Yes, the pixel count is similar, but I much prefer 1280x1024 to 1440x900.
Omega: I wouldn't count on it, the next step up from WQXGA (2560x1600) is QHD (3840x2160/3840x2400), there are about four displays that have been made so far to use that resolution, but all of them are at least a year old, and cost around $40,000.
Shokz: The maximum resolution of DVI is 2560x1600, the maximum resolution of Displayport (which some cards already have, and indeed the Dell 3008WFP has a connector for) is 3840x2160.
Rick: You'll have to better explain "the quality is not the same"

Well yeah and apart from that the CPU is rendering the video, so it will be laggy as hell. Why would you uninstall the graphics drivers?

well, have you set TV mode up correctly? There are lots of options within catalyst to configure the display for a TV, there is probably an option in there that is set wrong.

You've really only got 2 Options Wizard or Advanced.I've tried everything from auto detect TV to setting the Monitor and TV to TV and Monitor. Oh yea I read instructions very thoroughly all checks in proper place
I really think its in the operating system, because when I uninstall ATI. At Re start-up,Windows auto-detects Vid card but won't install Drivers

XP will not automatically install graphics drivers at all. It simply renders the desktop in software. Vista, however, does have its own primitive graphics driver. The TV is 1920x1080, how is it connected?

Vista has a primitive driver eh? Huh. Windows 7's native graphics driver is incredible to say the least. I ran it for over a week playing Left 4 dead with minimal stuttering.

On another note, loving "Evga Precision" as opposed to Riva tuner. It just about made me rip my hair out. With the damn driver signing BS! Well...its a thing of the past. At present, all I want is my fan's control speed.

And on yet another note. Windows 7, GTX 260(216cores), 186.18 Nvidia driver, ALL settings at their highest, 60Fps with NO stutter. In-friggin-credible LOL! Left 4 dead by the way LOL
