well i can tell you this, the hour glass means that your pc is working-the best thing to do when this happens is to wait until it gets done-conflicting applications can be those that you are running while installing phone tools.I was told that you have no other applications running at the time when you do this process...

If it says whitespace not allowed it might be because you have illegal characters (for the phone) in the names of the pics. In my case it was an ampersand (&). Change the pic names and try again.

COM3 and COM4 are sort of like virtual ports. Your computer may have serial ports in the back if it's an older or custom built one. Those are COM1 and COM2 (COM3 and 4 sort of mirror those virtually - it's not important, I've always thought it was just a software thing). Anyway, COM1 and 2, the REAL COM ports can be turned on or off in the BIOS settings that you can access as the computer is booting up. If you have serial ports in the back AND they aren't being used try turning those ports off or DISABLE them in the BIOS. I have mine turned off and again, my phone works fine with the phone tools. Other than this little tidbit of info, I'm afraid I can't be of much help as I don't know how to manually "fix" that situation.

hey guys I must say I love a lot of your work (noted for anyone who will accept gratification). well I have downloaded Motorola Mobile Phone Tools, and I have the P2K driver, and thats all successfully installed. Unfortunatly I want scream because it just sits and initializes and never fully loads. It will only sit and wait until the end of time apparently.
SO i need help on initializing the phone modem.
any help is great.

I've been here an hour and I can't find a link for the drivers. I have a V220, I have MPT and there was a driver that was found for ???. When I bring up MPT, it says to choose a profile, I choose default. Then it says to choose which way I'm going to connect the phone, I choose USB cable. Then it says that it will detect my phone. It does and then it says it needs a driver (Motorola V220ENS). I've d/l 2 things that I thought were said driver, but it still can't find it. So, I am led to believe that I d/l the wrong driver. Does anyone know? Where can I d/l the correct driver? Am I on the right track??? Thanks in advance!

julieann, you've downloaded the correct P2K driver file for your OS from here: http://bongowireless.com/file_download.php ?
I also have a another driver file that I used when I connected my phone. PM me your email addy and I'll email it to you. It's a VERY small ZIP file.

I have read the messages from 10-04 and tried most of the sites to download the phone tools. The closest I've gotten is with the 3.11h. My phone just keeps initializing, even overnight. The correct skin shows, but there is the \ through the circle and says my modem is not connected. I've tried 2 different cables, I have signal and battery is up. I am soooo frustrated. Would someone please "live" links with all of the files needed to connect my V220. Thanks for any help.

Seems unusual to go a day without reading anything new. Did everyone just leave this forum, or are there just no current working sites for referral? Any help is still very much appreciated.

Hey yal, I have had my Motorola V220 for quite some time now, but I want to send ringtones to my phone instead of having to pay for them and stuff, ya know? I have converted the ringtone I want into a wav file, a small one to, and I have a USB cable and everything. I installed the Mobile Phone Tools, and I have it working, like I can upload my contacts and calender from my phone, but the program doesnt see that I have a V220, so I used the V120e because that is the closest that have to what I have...can someone help me? Thank you

Duke, you mentioned that you have MPT installed and you can actually sync your calendar and contacts. You also mentioned that the program doesn't see your phone as a V220. I'm asking the next question b/c I want to better understand your situation. I also have a V220 and my MPT sees my phone as a V220. So do you not have access to the multimedia studio where you can transfer ringtones? I don't understand how the program can perform some aspects of the program and not others? Is the V120e a phone that can't accept additional ringtones and/or pictures or something?
Go here to download the USB Modem Driver:
http://www.free.cz/motorola/
EDIT: I just looked up the V120e. Since it has less features than a V220, the program is at least smart enough to realize it.

You scroll down until you find Motorola_USB_Modem_Driver and yes, that could be why your computer isn't identifying the phone correctly.
