Nah not really, the reason why is that a Dvd check software has a old list of Dvd checks.GT4 has new encryption,so probably not I highly doubt you can get anywhere with a Dvd check program. The best one I have seen so far that was new is the C.M.P. Patcher v1.1 made from Sonix. The C.M.P. Patcher v1.1 doesn't recognize the dvd checks, because they haven't been established yet.It would have to be done manually, after it is found manually then it can be integrated into a program.

i found these in CORE.GT4. what to do with it... i have no idea at all.

one attempt that i did do was edit the hex value layer1 to match layer0, therefore having that value recognize the first layer instead of the second. i iso'd the image using cddvdgen and came up with one image, which is good. but at the time, i only had iso'ed the first layer, not "GT4L1.VOL" second layer. my question here is how do you create the dual layer vol file for use in the single layer? i tried simple file joiner and i get an error on cddvdgen. i dont think joining the files would do anything at all, but i gave it a try. all i'm trying to do is to utilize all of the data in the gt4 disc. i think gow was shrinked accordingly through the gow tool. does anyone have the gow tool? backup.uk website wont send me a login, so i'm stuck at this point. i want to use that tool to see if it will come up with the same thing as gow

well i went ahead and sent it over hdd. one change i noticed was that after the gt4 text, it was looking for files differently. i have a vga converter to play ps2 on a monitor in this case an LCD, and it usually jumps(flickers) onto the next screen which is blank due to dvd check. now it does not flicker. i think the reason for that is because i had edited the Volume Information Size. also i had another concern regarding HDLOADER. is it compatible for USB? because gt4 will throw in usb detection, and if hdloader does not do any usb, then there could be a problem there too.

Wow,samuels I feel sorry for you bro a system crash is very harsh.I have been through the experience a couple times man,it hurts losing everything.I remember one time I had all my GameCube games on my computer, because at the time you had to send through broadband adapter to play all the games.I ended up losing one of my most important .dll files to start up my computer, which messed everything up.My computer froze up,had to do a hard shutdown then when I tried to restart I just kept getting a message windows cannot start missing some .dll file message.Anyways to make a long story short I had to reformat and load everything back, makes you want to break the computer sometimes bro.It happened a long time ago,but I am pretty secure now man.The best thing to do is make a backup disc so if you do lose anything that is really important. You can always go back and extract from the disc.Sorry off topic, but yeah tutran what you are showing is nothing special bro.Look further into the CORE.GT4 file with notepad or microsoft word, this is the problem man.You will see how encrypted it is when you look inside of the CORE.GT4 file.I am thinking the language inside the CORE.GT4 file is in Japan, but I could be wrong.I know one message that is very clear though,if you translate some of the bottom of the CORE.GT4 file.It has a scription that says NOTE:IT WILL NOT WORK OFF THE HDD.I decrypted a couple more messages, but still alot more is left.If you have a very strong dissassembler you might be able to make out the whole CORE.GT4 file. That is what I am looking for,a very strong dissassembler to manuever around this file for extracting purpose and rebuilding.

Oh I wanted to add that the PCSX2 emulator for PS2 can play up to the intro of the game,so the ps2scene is definately ahead of this develop I am thinking. It is probably easier to work from the actual PS2 system, than a emulator that is why I think this.

need... gt4... badly! my ps2 doesnt read dvd's anymore so i load all my games to hdd through the computer, then boot up hd advance from a regular cd. damn it seems like a few people here are reallly close to hacking gt4 to make it work on the hdd. i'd help but i know very little about that hex code stuff. if someone cracks this shit, post a how-to in big fuggin letters for everyone to use!

by the way, there is that dms4 modchip with the Toxic OS that can play gt4, has anybody thought of trying to figure out what it is in that OS that makes it work? why waste time trying to solve a problem that's already been solved?

children of bodom know what's up!

If Code Warrior For PS2 Ver.R3.04 would allow you to step through the code for GT4 it should allow you to see where and when the code does the DVD checks, what value/data the PS2 expects for the code to proceed, and then you could edit the data the PS2 checks/compares to allow the game to continue loading. ie the PS2 reads data from the DVD - xxxx - looks up the value it expects - yyyy - compares it, and if they match, proceeds loading. It may be checking if the DVD is PTP - from the look of some of the labels in CDVDMAN file- , see's that it is, then proceeds. But whether or not the DVD is PTP or not, the TOC should still have the correct location of the required files to load them even if the DVD is OTP.The PS2 just has to be tricked into thinking the DVD is PTP.

i never put anything on a computer that i cannot lose, and if i do it is backed up. usually several times. 2 hdd`s and a cdr. i have not had much luck using cdrw`s. 2 reburns and they stop working. maybe i would have better luck with dvd rw? i doubt it. which is why i never buy rw discs of any kind.

An update to GT4,this is from Neness from http://www.alucard.cc well respected.Neness agrees that it is the CORE.GT4 file,he explained that it is the header of the file that is causing the problem, and is having a hard time getting in contact with his friend to work on the issue. The spoken words from Neness:

psychospacefish Posted on Apr 10 2005, 09:01 AM
Okay people, spamming the board with your requests of a GT4 kit won't do anything. If it's do-able then it is, if it isn't it's not. Unless you have some information which hasn't been posted which may benefit any coders/rippers, please don't post spam.

L-Burna Posted on Apr 11 2005, 06:09 AM
Hey psychospacefish anybody working on the CORE.GT4 file.I have a feeling that is the TOC file that can extract the two .VOL files, just like God of War.It has a TOC file(CORE.GT4),but is encrypted in some off the wall language.I also tried opening it up in a couple programs, but for some reason it gets rejected.I opened it up with microsoft word, and if you look at it very closely it reveals a similarity to the God of War TOC file.It has the track symbols and if you translate some of the text from Japanese to English you can make out some of it.At the very bottom of the CORE.GT4 file it says Note:Will not work off the HDD.Any word on this, would like to know if anyone is working on this.

neness2000 Posted on Apr 11 2005, 06:24 AM
@L-BURNA,

All the problem is there.
CORE.GT4 is an elf but WITHOUT its header so you can't open it in ps2disassembler or IDA PRO and debug it.
The crypting algorythm is there we know all but we don't know yet how to do it.

I 've asked some friend help but they seme to not here me (friend if you read here may be a little answer )

L-Burna Posted on Apr 11 2005, 06:41 AM
Thanks Neness for the heads up on the update man, yeah in due time hopefully the CORE.GT4 gets decrypted.Doh,if only it could come in due time and everyone could quit making so many posts about this game.

So maybe in due time,Neness will get his answer and the GT4 issue will be solved.I don't want to make any pressure on Neness, because he has already contributed to GT4 with the movie extractor and gives fairly alot of information. From one of the top dog rippers at http://www.alucard.cc ,hope this gives some insight to some peeps that are working on GT4.

this ones for l-burna(as he seems pretty clued up on the hex editing stuff!),in the LBA sector 1637 of the IOPRP300.img file, there is a lot of dvd check information, don't know if its possible to compare the info with another disc and change it?,i'm quite new to this and cant understand the layer 0_%d ?????? jargon that is within the hex!!,i read the hex info using isobuster to read the img file and sector view to check the hex,its probably been tried but hopefully its some useful info

The answer lies in the CORE.GT4 man,the header is missing and is causing alot of trouble. If we went and did the Dvd checks,we would still have to mess with the CORE.GT4 file. That is the only solution as far as I can tell at the momment bro.

I types in Gran Turismo into iMesh which is a file sharing program. The search found something "Gran Turismo 4 SCEA crack.exe"

Anyone know what this is and if it can help us reach a succeddful back up of GT4.

I myself would check but i only know the basics of PS2 backup's e.g w/ DVD Decrypter and Nero

Hope this helps,

It is funny to read your posts guys....

There are lot of games which are not worth the money, but in my opinion if there is PS2 game which you should buy than it is GT4.
'Couse you are talking about backing-up, but we all know what is this good for. So, my suggestion is, please take your girlfriends to the park, drink less and smoke less through the weekend, save some money and I am sure, that you will be able to buy this game in a shop.
This would be also a great feedback for the creators of the game and a motivation to create an even better GT5 (maybe for PS3 and with destroyable cars ;P

Just think about it.

PS: I love the Nurnburg Ring Track !!!!!

steevensk, i tend to agree with you.
the fact that the game's yet to be cracked, I'm sure there are more than a handful of people who bit their lips and parted with 50 bucks and bought the bloody game, and be done with.

BUT you shouldnt stereotype everyone who's posted in this thread as cheapskates who dont want to buy the real copy.

some really do it for back-up purposes (yeah, they do exist), some do it to play off HDD, and some for the hell of it, or the sport, if you can call it that...

I've been reading these forums about backing up GT4, I own the game myself, but I want to be able to back it up.

You talk about Apache 2, but whenever I search for it, I just manage to end up finding the Linux webserver program. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to find the program, so that I can also assist in the cracking of the game.

Great game, would hate for it to get damaged.... oO( If it ever left my PS2 ;P )

EDIT: Ignore me - I found it on the The Official God Of War Thread at the top. Sorry

i think there is encryption in the opening movie of the type that some people use to hide messages in pictures that can be e mailed. therefore i think the opening movie has to be removed asd part of a ripkit to back this game up.
