I'm thinking about getting a psp. I'm on the road alot and i get bored. Also, my cd player broke. I was wondering if it is easy to get music onto the PsP via cd or from a website?

Very easy depending on the software you have, to get from cd to psp, you need to put the cd on a comp and save it as an mp3 format to your computer,,, from there connect your psp to your comp and open the folder "PSP" up, then create a folder call "MUSIC" then add all the mp3 files you memory card can hold to it. and then disconnect the usb,, and you are done with adding music to your psp.

All right. I know "how" to add music tracks. Adding Jpegs was easy enough. What I need to know is what kind of program can one use to make tracks into MP3s? And what about videos that are already in WMP format?
I have a boatload of WMP files that the PSP can't read...

I know for the videos you can use psp video 9,it supports wmv files and as for the mp3 I use musicmatch to convert to mp3.You can download the standard musicmatch at their website.

get music match box, go to options and highlight records, and make sure it says copy in mp3 format. hit record under the file menu,, then insert the cd,, ,, then hit record,, it should save under the file MY Music under the start menu,, then just like the jpeg, drag the mp3's to the folder "MUSIC" which you have to create under the "PSP" folder.. god,, this is the 6th time i had to explain this.. I feel like a nice guy, coz i had to waste atleast 6 hours of trying to do all this on my own...

Aight. I'm glad you guys knew what I meant by WMPs. I meant to put WMAs. But anyway. The problem I have is none of the programs the we have here can change my digital music into MP3s. I'm in Iraq with the Army and I work in a giant Command Post where pretty much everyone works on computers. So there are thousands of tracks floating around but I can't use em on my PSP!
I'm not mad though. I'll be going on leave shortly and I can rip all my CDs once I get home.

Lol... naw not yet. Give them about another 6 months and they should start getting into it.
PS2? Oh yeah. You can get them on the "black market" for something like 100 bucks with a chip to do whatever it is that one would need a chip in their PS2 to do. At least that's what I've heard. And there are lots of copies, I meant games that people can get. Again I don't know this for sure. I just know somebody that knows somebody.

Well, as far as I know the only thing they have are Arabic subtitles (in movies) and as far as games go. I don't know. They are more likely to have Japanese versions I think. I don't have a PS2 here. My PSP is enough. Or will be once I get more MP3s on it.

Unfortunately one drawback of the PSP, for now, is that it doesn't have any built in memory. But I've seen it's "Duo" cards that have as much as a Gig of memory, which is significant considering the size of the card. One of those would hold a lot more than 100 songs. Possibly 200 or more depending on the size of the songs.
That estimate is based on the amount of songs I had on 512 MB's worth of Smart Media cards when I used an iRock MP3 player.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna get a 1 Gig card, that way I can store a good bit.
I still haven't gotten any videos to work, but I havne't really been trying all that hard. Besides I only have a 32 Mb card for now.

Well, I like the idea of having a few songs on my PSP for a rainy day so to speak.
I'm going to be going on a VERY long flight soon and I'm going to need several types of entertainment. The PSP just happens to have the extra capabilities IMO. Like... it's nice to know it's there.

Hey jango,
That Twisted Metal data is no where near as big as you may think. Basically all that is for is to tell the PSP what "chapter" to go so-to-speak.
Hope that helps...

on my 256 mb card I can fit about 200- 300 songs at high quality. By high quality I mean 96-192 kb/s as the mind cant distinguish between anything higher than 128 quality wise. If you want to sacrifice volume go 64 kb/s and you could fit about 500 songs.
