Cool i got the first thread. Not much is known about this console yet, ive read that its three times more powerful than the game cube, maybe its more powerful than the ps3 or xbox 360. check out these pics (not sure if its real or not) http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000223043611

the controler looks nice, for people who like using there right hand for the joystick.

but i don't think that pic is real. the nintendo revolution will probably look a bit like that, there will probably be changes (like with the NDS)

nintendo is busy with new types of playing games, like with nds the touch screen and the microphone, and games like donkey konga, mario party 6.
so they will probably make a controler with a mic or something
wireless maybe?

we'll see :)

it wont be, but power isnt everything. the one real cool thing that it will have is that you will be able to play gamecube games as well as download NES, Super NES, and N64 roms.

I don't think the new nintendo will even touch ps3 or xbox but the good news is that it's going to be cheaper than the other two.i watched the preview today E3 Live 2005 on G4 and the PS3 is kicking Xbox butt right now but nintendo didn't show off any games today so i don't know what it's going to bring..

I think Revolution is gonna kick ass!!

Ive been following nintendo since i was like 5 years old and have never been disappointed, except for the lack of "adult" games which can be real fun i.e. GTA etc.

Ive used the NDS and i think its crazy way to play games, just adds a new dimension to it which hopefully revolution will do as well where as PS3 n Xbox 360 are only going for better graphics etc which I think will be their downfall this time around.

Thats my view anyway

It wont play ROMS , you can download NES , SNES and N64 games.

From gamespot :

Eschewing the company's previous business ideas, the Revolution will be online-friendly and will support a broadband gaming service similar to that of Microsoft's Xbox Live. Its most significant contribution to online gaming will be the ability to download Nintendo's entire catalog of NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64 console games. As for GameCube titles, they have the potential to be downloadable, though it's not clear whether the games will be saved to storage devices or memory cards.

Have a look at http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/17/news_6125078.html
for the full article.

I think Nintendo said "hmmm, Xbox and Ps1 gamers are playing Nintendo Roms,, hmm so they wont old games on one console..." Cant beat them, join them. I think its a great idea, I have always loved Nintendo, I've had every console since they hit the market. I recently switched to PS2 b/c of the lack of games that pulled a more mature audience, but hopefully they will change that.

yeah , downloadable games sounds really good. I read somewhere that you will have to pay for them though. Gamecube does lack mature games , this is problem nintendo has really always had. I think they should try and change their kiddy image.

its definantly getting to the point wher its all getting too hi tech and people are sick of paying lots of money ,this whole downloading idea is great it rubs out major costs for everybody, and people already use roms and have bigger hard drives put into ps2 and xbox just so they can play the old shcool stuff and not have to worry about swaping disks. ya people will probably pirate the games but,in the end they are all really old games, that have probably allready made them money and will end up generating a new profit from something that has already been pirated and copied for years.
I think the ideas great and even if they dont grow up the system ill probably still get one.as long as the price is decent.and its easy and cheap to download.because theres no plastic or marketing involved legal downloadable games should be like 1-5bucks depending on how new,and every one will buy one if it goes that way!and even pay to download! rather than just copy!

Well I think the nintendo revoltion will be my next console, but I hope this time they have better and a bigger library of games, I also hope that nintendo does not use a weirdo format which will make their games difficult to copy ;), here in latin america I cannot think about buying original games every 6 months, so that will be a + if nintendo uses a easy to copy format, about if nintendo revolution will be better than xbox 360 or PS3 I dont think so, with those specs is not going to be easy to beat both, in terms of graphics and speed, but still nintendo can get to the little ones with some of their games, So it is more probbable that a 8 year old kid buys a Revolution rather than a ps3 although adults will buy the revolution too, I think nitendo has always been focused in a market for kids...What do ya think? ;)

I don't know why everyone keeps touting how Nintendo will make older console games available for the Revolution. It makes no sense. First of all Nintendo hasn't stated if games developed by other companies will be available or just Nintendo developed and licensed games. So I want get to excited about that just yet. Plus Nintendo has to talk about how they focus more on gaming and less on technology because if they didn't they would absolutely have no shot. Right now I truly believe that Nintendo is still a viable player because of their proprietory library of games. IF you are a Zelda, Mario, Starfox, Metroid and other franchise fans then ofcourse you are going to get a Nintendo Revolution. But I hope that "revolution" console is just a prototype and not the actual system becaus it is absolutely ugly.

Through an emulator. AKA with roms. How the hell else would they do it? Recode all of their games to work with the revolution? not likely.

I think for nintendo it could all hinge on the quality of games they will produce. They have always produced undoubtedly some of the best games ever lets hope they keep up this tradition because as far as matching the other two consoles for power it has no chance.

Nobody knows! Nintendo could have learned a good lesson with the success of RE4 and they could start making games for the older generation.

I agree Nintendo has some of the best quality games of all time. PS3 and Xbox 360 would definitely be better because of their claimed hardware capabilities. But Nintendo has always had something for everyone and I will definitely buy this system.

PS3 and Xbox360 will probably have the ability to do the same thing with roms,it really isn't new to be honest. They have emulators for PS2 that can play NES,SNES,Genesis,etc...I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, but PS3 has both consoles beat in my opinion. The graphics in the gameplay haven't been shown yet, only cutscenes in games.Nobody really has a clue what the actual in-game graphics will look like yet.Nintendo is still slow with the consoles, and lacks games for adults which is a downfall.Instead of making games for kids why not make games for everyone like PS3 and Xbox360 will do.PS3 wins my vote with the wide selection of games, and has the built in player for movies. They actually all have one special thing, just depends on what you like to be honest.

I feel that the NR's controler might be enough to grip gamers. the only thing Nintendo needs is online play, if they had that, they may be unstopable.
I still feel that the NR will the most because it's cheaper. People will have one 36o and NR or one Ps3 and NR in most house. I feel that in every household there will be a NR. Hopefully Nintendo won't end up like sega....Except if they do, they won't make games either, nintendo needs some controller because they're falling off since Xbox came in the game

To sum up the important stuff regarding XBL:

There will be two versions of Xbox Live. Silver is free (everyone gets it), and Gold is a paid subscription, like the current XBL. It looks like Xbox Live will be free on the weekends for everyone; Gold members will get it all the time, obviously. Current Xbox Live accounts will carry over to the 360 and become Gold Xbox Live accounts. Both Gold and Silver members will be able to download demos, trailers, and other content through XBL.

This info seems pretty legit, and some insiders have confirmed that this is indeed a real leak.

I will believe it when I see more in regards to these leaks. With those specs it appears to be more powerful than my computer and should cost twice more(my computer cost 974 dollars that I built). I know that all consoles lose money and that the companies hope to recoup them with game licenses royalties and online subscription but that system should cost atleast 700 dollars if not more. 3 processors at 3.2ghz each? Damn!
