I have the 17 inch Dell UltraSharp flat panel monitor, model 1704FPT, and this one has two USB ports. They are located on the left-hand side of the monitor; not really visable as you're looking at it straight-on; but very easy to see if you were to peek towards the left side a bit.
I also found the default settings of the monitor to be excellent too. I didn't need to fine tune the color at all. There are numerous settings that you can toy around with if you wish, but I stayed with the defaults here.
It's funny too, as when I bought this pc a little while ago, I never knew what to expect when I recieved this monitor.... I had never even seen one up close before. When I set it up, I mistakingly connected it via the analog cable. The clarity was still great and I was so happy with it.
But I called Dell tech support for an unrelated question, and of course they have access to your computer specs. He asked me how I connected the monitor, and I told him I used the analog cable. He told me that I paid extra money for this expensive video card, and asked me why I'm not using the supplied DVI cable.... I told him I didn't know anything about it, lol!!! So he had me swap the cables and connect it via the proper DVI cable. What a difference!!!!!!!
Dell supplies both cables in the box; both analog and DVI cables.
I'd recommend you get the better video card too, to compliment your new monitor. If you're into games; or photo editing like I am, you'll really appreciate the clarity and resolution / vivid colors of it. It turned out to be much, much better than what I expected.
I chose the mid-range 128MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X300SE for my Dimension 4700 here. It has TV, DVI, and VGA outputs.

I'll be quite honest in telling you that I really don't understand all those specs, but the performance is fantastic here. Hope this info might be helpful to you, my friend. Take care... good luck.
