I use a program called goldwave, open the mp3 and than split out the 10 or 15 seconds that I want for my ringtone, than save it as a 56kb mp3 file. Usually ends up making files no bigger than 175kb and they are awesome, i can make ringtones from any song I want for free ;)

Connect your v180 with your computer via usb-cable, and then just copy files to audio-folder in mobiledit.

Soccor,
You need to get Motorola Phone Tools. Use the mp3 program that is mentioned above and then transfer it to your phone through Motorola Phone Tools.

I used nero's wave editor to make my mp3 tones. Its opens mp3s and waves, and allows you to choose which part of the song you want, cut the rest, and save the file as an mp3 whith tons of options for bitrate and whether you want your ringtone mono or stereo.

By far the easiest way to send files to your phone is bluetooth. USB BT dongles can be had for ~$10. Nothing to plug in, no software, just send it.

OK. My phone is a V551.
So I got as far as to get the ring tone on my phone (via P2K Tools). The applied "as ringtone". Then called my phone from the house and the old ring tone is still playing.
I tried this with two separate MP3 files, same thing happend both times. I have no user groups or catagories set up for ANYONE in my phone book. Confused??

Anyone know any advanced sound editing? I made a few ringtones with the above method, but they still dont sound very good. I have some ringtones from cell one, paid ones, though i didnt pay for it..but they sound really good. Loud and clear, no distortion what so ever and these are ringtones by linkin park, which have a lot of distortion. I am just wondering if anyone knows how the cell phone companies make them sound so good. oh i tried that method someone posted about setting the highpass to 100, that didnt work just had a error.
btw i have a Motorola V400
