It looks horrible for a controller, but it doesnt seem like a bad idea...it might look bad to me, but I still want to try it.

I would rather have a remote looking thing im my room then another clumpy toy looking controller like all the ones we use today! the only reason we dont see our controllers as childish/sad looking is because thats all were given!
Controllers are not suppost to be a single shape! Its like cars,, if you show someone 100 years ago a simple car today they will say "what the hell is that, look how wide it is, its too square, its NOT car shaped"
Were livingin times thats moving slow where big companies dont wnat to think but they want to waist our money until the next man thinks of a good idea to steal!

It seems that most of you here are just looking at the thing without reading on what it can do. First off it is built to do tons of different "revolutary" things like:
1. 3D Motion Sensor- in other words not only will you be doing some button mashing, you will also be able to use this thing as a motion detector. There are some arcade games out there that have motion sensors where you have to duck, jump, and some other things and with this controller the same thing will be happening. I mean think about it, imagine you are playing some type of Star Wars Game that does some Light Saber fighting. Imagine because of this motion sensor, you can hold this thing like a light saber and fight it out with Darth Vader, now that would be cooler than anything to date. Not to mention, you will be able to use this thing as a light gun, now that sounds pretty cool to me.
2. Tilt Sensing- just like GBA games like Wario Ware Twisted and Yoshi Topsy-Turvy
3. Expandable- This thing is going to have some expansion ports on the top and bottom so there will be some more fuctionality that is yet to come.
Quote: You must have never played much on the NES. While not as ergonomic as some of the modern controllers, you could comfortably play for hours. Take the new controller and turn it sideways and it is nearly identical to the old NES controller layout. Since the Revolution is supposed to have downloadable NES games as well, imagine playing them with a near perfect copy of the original controller too.
Totally agree!
The only thing that doesnt make sense to me is that I thought Nintendo said the Revolution was not going to play DVDs, so why in the hell would they make the thing look like a standard TV remote?

Also, what you people are forgetting is that is still comes with ports for your Cube Controllers, so if you are playing a standard fps game, then go with the cube controller. That is what makes this thing so Revolutionary. It is not go to limit itself just the new controller, it is going to be backwards compatable.

IGN has posted a new artical: http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651559p1.html
The artical talks about the controller and they said that you can use the hands-free pointer (the remote) and plus it into the shall (which is basically a wave bird (GC controller) with a slot in the middle for the pointer. So basically, you have a pointer and a controller, so the Revolution's controller isnt really the remote anymore, but its a gc controller which is wireless, has additional buttons, and is a pointer (free-hand-style). So to tell you the truth, Im actually looking forward to playing the Revolution now that it has an "actual contrller" (one that actually looks like a controller and not like a TV remote). Just check put the artical...it will make you want to play the revolution now.
Here is a picture of the Free-Hand/Pointer/Remote controller pluged into the "shell"/"cradle":

I hate the way controllers look today they all look clumpy and they all look like toys!!!!
This is the best looking controller you will ever find and as things get more moden and simpler! you will appreciate the simple design of the revolution!
Show anyone over the age of 30 the NIN REV controller and the PS3 controller and guess which one they will go for.
Its a psycological thing, no matter whst age were all use to picking up remote controlls, so we go for what is the most NORMAL and SIMPLE look,
Game controllers dont look cool they all look stupid, put your tv remote next to your NGC controller and tell me which one looks best?

That cotnroller (the pic I posted) doesnt look that bad...and its probably not exactly like a GC contrller, there are probably 2 "Z" buttons because on the analog cotnroller (the adon for the remote) has 2 Z buttons, Z1 and Z2...but seriously it dot look bad...i would rather go for that controller than the big ass Xbox controller, the first xbox contrller, or the PS3 cotnroller. I like the ps3, just not hte controller, looks like a bommerang.

I think they can make a better addon for the controller then that,
They need to combine a shape of the SNES/N64/Virtual boy and NGC with the right button placement. Oh that reciever thing is good i just had a thought, Nintendo can do an advanced one in the future so 4 people can play with 2 controllers each!
I would love to play games with 2 of those REV controllers that would be like complete controll! especially in a boxing game!

That pic has to be a fake because there is no mention of this type of add-on with the offical release. Not to mention it looks pretty dumb and also you can hook a cube controller to it so why would you want that type of controller dock. Also, have you seen the base to the revolution controller, it is a little fat, so it would have to be a Huge space in a controller to fit the thing which would seem a little funny

Sorry, the "shell" was created by IGN, its a mock-up, its what they think it will look like, so yes its basically a fake, but NINTENDO did say they were going to make a shell/cradle...so it could look pretty similar to that...who knows..

Phew!! Im glad its a fake it looked CRAP! What they need is an addon that goes over the current controller face and adds on 2x 3d sticks/dpad and support for 9 action buttons in total! But then they also need the addon to be used for NINREV games like fighting games coz theres some people wh just want to play games in the old way! But i think most REV games wont let that happen!

I am wondering if there will be a add-on for the DS. I thought during E3 they said, all nintendo games will be available to play through the revolution. That would be something to see. I would love playing Metoes on the big screen, but at the same time it seems impossible.

I think they meant that all previous Nintendo console games can be played on the Revolution. And by the way, the addon/cradle/shell will look something like that, what I mean is, the remote thingy will probably plug into the shell so it can act as a "regular" controller with sensors.

The thing is it wont be all nintendo games just the big ones, like donkeykong, zelda and so so ! Im guessing onlythe popular ones! ill tell you what they need to do!!! they need to talk to sega and throw in their games too!
Tho the games wont be free, they will probably cost $5 each to download, and nintendo is pretty simple so i think you will probably pay by downlaod credit by going into a game shop and buying download credit and putting the pin number into the machine,,, or creditcard online!!!!??????? who knows!

I've heard the revoltution is gonna be around about £100 mark bearing in mind its a games machine not all singing all dancing Game & Entertainment system. The 360 will come down in price but the £270 is a bit of a bargain when u look at all the stuff u get for your money

Hell no!!! dont be silly!
Nintendo couldn't bring out a home console that cheap! The DS was £150, the REV will be about 250 on release. And it is all singing and dancing theres not really much more the other consoles can do then the REV.
