i've got Revolutions and will try Shrinking that shortly..

..ages ago i'd come across a far-eastern version of a movie (i think it was the Core) and i had quite a bit of trouble ripping that one, i think i used something like ifoedit/vobblanker etc due to it's non-compliance (it turned out it was a copy that hadn't been compliant when it was written to the disc, but when i'd used whichever programs were necessary to rip to hard disc, burning to another dvd was no problem because the movie was then 'compliant' prior to the burn.

I've not yet come across legitimate 'pressed' films that are non-compliant though...

I dont really know much on converting file from AVI but the main problem that I ran into is that one of the *.VOB files was 0kb in size. that caused the "File size is not a multiple of a logical block size (2 KB)" so look at your files and see if you have a file that could cause that. If so you could try and burn your project via Data burn to a UDF DVD and make your own VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files and put yours in the VIDEO_TS file.

I have tried WinAVI and am not too happy. I expected more. I would advise you to try vsoDivXToDVD (http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm). The link is probably old but you can locate it. It is free. I have been using it for conversion for a long time. Works fine, no problem with further burning with Nero or DVDShrink then DVDDecryptor. Your choice. I am amazed how solid the program is. Another test - use DVDShrink first, then Nero.
Good luck,
Roma

@trigger39 -

while you're there, there's still a couple things to address in that logfile...
Quote:
1A22-************************
1A23-************************
- EDIT OUT your serial numbers...
Quote:
Nero version: 6.0.0.16 (Nero Express)
- that version's out of the bible, update to latest 6.x version - 6.6.0.16
Quote:
Recorder: <PHILIPS DVD8421> Version: 6H01
- haven't found much info on this drive, other than it's s'posed to be identical to the BenQ DW830A. so don't yet know if the firmware is up to date
Quote:
Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 1
Drive is autodetected - recorder class: Std. MMC recorder
- yuo, Nero's too old to recognise your burner, update Nero

DVD-Video files reallocation failed
- sounds like you got this bit sorted with WinAVI..
