Finally, I do believe I have determined the magic number. Thanks jdobbs for suggesting ReJig. I only wish you would have suggested it sooner. First attempt with ReJig didn't work because I forgot to chance target sector for ReJig and left it set for CCE. Anyway the magic number useing Rejig is 4050000. The size of the video_ts folder (and iso) is 8042 mb (7.85 gb) which is 110 gb less than a blank DL dvd (8152 mb). The reduction level from 14.4 gb to 7.85 gb is 51.5%. I'll let you know how good (or bad) the video quality is after I have burned it to a DL disc and also if there were any problems with the layor break and so on. I'm running it through CCE now with CCETargetSectors=4050000 to be certain this is the value I need. I ordered some verbatum DL dvd+r's and they should be here thursday. Once again the magic number for a DL disc is 4050000 unless I run into problems burning in which case I will let you know.

Quote: I tried a value of 4000000 and it was a little too big but I must have messed up somewhere because I later tried 3999999 and it was 7.76 gb (7950 mb).
I'm not sure where I screwed up on the initial try of 4000000 but it cost me a lot of time. The value you listed for LOTR was pretty close L8ter and may prove to be the magic number when it is all said and done.
My last encode useing CCE and a value of 4050000 came in at 7.85 gb (8046 mb) leaving 106 mb leeway and with any luck should work.

Aw, sweet success. No problem with the layer break and the video quality is good and thats on my 52" hdtv. Better than I expected especially with a reduction level of 51%. Playback is flawless. All menu's work. No freezing, tiling, etc. I used verbatum dvd+r DL discs and booktyped them dvd-rom. I burned at 4x useing my benq DW1620 pro. Hats off to jdobbs (dvd-rb), dimad (dvdremake), and lightning_UK (imgburn). Dvd-rb/cce never ceases to amaze me. Thanks to all that helped with my adventure.
Edit: oops I spoke too soon. Ran into some freezing/pausing problems. Gonna try a burn at 2.4x.
