Rmonkey, can't that damage the spindle motor on the slim? I had tried to do that, but I swapped too late. I swapped like this: PSX original game insert(V-Rally 2 NTSC U/C), turn on console, 2X, 1X, 2X, 1X, 2x, 1x, that's when I swapped with my backup(V-Rally Championship Edition PAL). I got a black screen and I thought that the problem was that the PlayStation 2 saw the SLES file instead of the SLUS of V-Rally 2. Hope this does not damage the spindle motor because I think this swap method is dangerous. One more thing, when the backup booted, did the game display itself properly as if it were PAL instead of NTSC U/C? I REALLY want V-Rally Championship Edition to display itself as NTSC(maybe will because the PlayStation 2 doesn't know that a new disc has been inserted that has been coded differently).
You know, even though the method may be dangerous, it works. V-Rally works properly(except for only menu music that works out of all the songs), but since I converted the game to NTSC without Y-fix, the screen is cut off at the bottom(shows less in 16:9 format with vertcal offset set to 0). Here's a tip for those of you who have a PSX game that supports CD playback: when the black disc pops on the Browser screen, press Triangle and play one of the audio tracks. The disc will spin even slower than 1X(maybe 0.5X or something). Stop the track and return to the main Browser menu. Then, swap with your backup, but be quick, as the laser seems to be analyzing if there's a disc inside when the disc is taken out. This should cause less stress on the spindle motor as it's not forcing as much as if it were spinning at 1X.
