bootable floppy is the easiest way to do it.
NO SOLDERING is required. make sure u have the SAMSUNG drive.
first step is to open the xbox 360. once u done that than ask the rest. opening takes a fair bit of time, it actually took me 2 hours because i did not have all the tools.
go to www.xbox360-hacks.com
and download the samsung drive hack starter pack. it has all the files required. unzip all of them so u only have to drag and drop.
format the floppy disk, right click in my computer on the floppy disk and click format. select create ms-dos start up disk.
once u have everything ready and the floppy formatted just tell me, so i can help further.

gamer17 : how is it you modded your 360 if you never flashed it or removed the drive????? i saw another thread where you or someone explianed on how to back up games AFTER the mod . you were right there somehow...
so unless you mean xbox 1 lol then you are lieing about modding your 360
BTW: wheres agent???? sounds like this kid got a scene going.... theirs been 2 or so diffrent ppl making the mod but dont you require modifing the firware then soildering?

'gamer17' - we both at the same stage. basically what i decided to do is:
buy a dual layer dvd movie which i know is over at least 8gb.
than open my xbox 360 and dump a original game, burn it to another dual layer disk - and finally see if it boots on my xbox.
if it does than i know for sure the hack is working, the only problem is i cant be bothered to keep changing the firmware on my xbox to copy games.
so i have found a decent dual layer sony dvd writer for only £20 brand new on ebay. i will buy one and than ONly use it for copying games!
this is going to take me roughly a week to get sorted completely which the hack running in confidence!
and 'gamer17' if u have better idea please mention!
anyone else with other info please post!
Thanks,

change of plan. i just read, it is way too complicated to copy a game by using the built in dvd drive. i certainly cant do it!!!
i figured a way out of opening my external dvd drive. so that means i can swap disks easily.
all i need now are some blank dual layer disks. in shops they cost me £30 for 5. so i am better of buying on ebay for £2 each.
--------------
also i am not sure, does it make a difference if i burn on DL DVD-R or Dl DVD+R ??? mine can only burn DVD+R

You can use the eject hole on the dvd drive. you use a regular dvd rom or burner, put in the big dvd then use the eject hole to open the drive and stick in xbox 360 game and use wxripper method, it has been tested to work.

agent47 check out jondrews post. that sounds like a good idea. there is a little hole on the front of the DVD burner. (the internal ones any ways im not sure about external) but just push a safety pin or something down it and it should pop your dvd burner open with out the computer detecting the eject. then you can switch the 8GB DVD that was in it. with a xbox 360 game. then just continue down the tutorial.
hope it helps laterz

that pushing a pin in the hole trick is a success. make sure you do it when you stop the drive though. other wise it will just sound like a bunch of gears grinding togeather. (i learned the hard way lol) so insert the 8GB movie then start up wxripper and then when it reads the disk. go to HOTSWAP>MAGIC NUMBER. then when it comes up with all the number stuff then go HOTSWAP>STOP DRIVE. then when the drive stops spinning then push a saftey pin or toolpick or something into the little hole on the front of the DVD drive and it should open a little bit. then you just pull the DVD drive out the rest of the way and switch the 8GB DVD with the xbox 360 game. after that go to HOTSWAP>SPIN DRIVE. then when it starts spinning again. go to FILE>START DUMP. then save the iso in the place you want it and then just wait till it finishs (should take about 1/2 hour or an hour depending on your drive speed) once its all done. then go into a burning program such as Nero and burn the iso to a blank DL DVD. after that you should be done.
have fun

stop there!!!
Once you dump the iso to your hard drive via the swap method, you need to patch the iso with SS merger. Download SS merger, xbox-scene.com go to tools... Download the .bin file from http://www.ubclass.org/X360SS/ and use merger to patch your iso. Only then can you play the backup on your xbox.

wow thanks ronnie101 i missed that part. i ruined one of my DL DVD's oops. oh well. ill just start over from scratch and get everything right this time. oh i found a better tutorial on backing up games. you will need to scroll down a bit to where it starts with the wxripper stuff. then from there on it tells you a step by step tutorial.
appreciation go's to ronnie101 for making so i dont ruin more disks thanks ronnie101

Gamer17, do not give the credit to me. In the guide you and I posted on a different thread, which is what I used to mod my 360, it says
Quote: Open up your DVD drive case so you can swap disks without pressing eject. OR use a paper clip in the little eject hole to avoid damaging the drive ? thanks Sniperkilla Remember the laser is dangerous and remember the little magnetic bit in the top that holds the disc in place.
Give the credit to the unknown person Sniperkilla
