Try saving it to another location/filename, also make sure your HDD isn't full

Your problem with Alcohol 120% is the fact that they updated to get it, if your using an older version than try getting a new one... if you have a cracked one you'll have to reinstall with a new application.

I have Alcohol 120% version 1.9.2, Ares has many new versions of Alcohol that comes with cracks.

I can't help ye with DVD Decrypter, never used it...

Yep, I did it.. it was easy. Create an ISO using apache3, you do this by opening up apache3, select all the files/folders and then click on the icon that says "make ISO".. wait for it to do that.
Then open up gnies expert ver 5. select shrinker as the plugin.. select the ISO you just created as the big file.
then run through stages 1 to 4, one fater the other.. when that's complete you should now have an ISO of 3.9GB instead of 7.9GB.. burn that ISO file to good quality media as usual.
Both apache 3 and gnies expert tool ver 5 are available in my thread here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292163

I'm now playing mine :D

Ok paddy, i have a question:
These steps are for rebuild the first or the second layer?

I've already rebuild the first layer into a DVD5. I need to know how to rebuild the second layer (that contains only a folder name "BG") into a playable PS2 disc.

The steps I told you how to do it rebuilds the whole game.. I compared both discs and ALL the files from the dual layer 7.9GB disc are the same on the 3.9GB dvd-5 rebuild. As luck would have it, the BG folder is exactly the same on layer 1 as it is in layer 0.. so your dvd-5 of one layer should work ok anyway maybe.

The rebuilded DVD5 works fine, until you reach the half of the game (more or less).
Then, when you're enter the area of the game call "Castle of Lord Vanarhost", the game freezes up (at least for my rebuilded DVD5).
Try to find a solution to my problem, i've found this in WWW.SWAPMAGiCFiX.COM:

If you are backing up your original DVD9 disc and only see layer0 files, you can use UltraISO and extract the layer1 (second layer) "BG" tree folders to get the files necessary for making your 2-DVDR backup.

Also when rebuilding your image in CD/DVD Generator 1.50 you can drag and drop the files in this order for both discs:
SYSTEM.CNF, SLUS_205.65, NTGUI2.ELF, CONF, DATA, DATA2, MODULES, MODULES2, NETGUI, NGC, and BG directory.

Man, I'm gonna have to stop rebuilding games etc when I'm really tired, LOL... Yeah, I was wrong before, you need some files from layer 1, I just tried to make a dvd-5 out of both layers with the files you NEED and it comes out as around 6.8GB.. so yes it'll have to be put onto 2 dvd-5 to work.
The easiest way I would say to do it is to extract layer 0 to one folder (layer 0) and layer 1 to another folder (layer 1)

rebuild layer 0 to a dvd-5.

Then in windows explorer open layer 0 select all files/folders except the BG/DATA folder and then go to EDIT and copy to... select layer 1 as the destination.. and if it asks to overwrite select yes to all.. then when it's finished you should have the files you need to rebuild that to another dvd-5.

It sucks that it can't all fit on a dvd-5, but oh well... I don't know how or where you go about swapping the 2 discs though during the game.. will let you know if/when I find out..

sorry about getting things wrong.. but hey at least that dvd-5 I thiught was the whole game can be my first part dvd-5 and I haven't wasted any discs, LOL

Thanks paddy, you were lucky! I wasted 3 DVD+R DL and 1 DVD-R DL, trying to do the booktype (FFFFFF**********CCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!).

One last question paddy, and then i'll rebuild the 2nd DVD:

Did you test your 2nd DVD in your PS2? It works fine? Thanks man!

Haven't tested second disc yet.. haven't got the time at the moment, might be able to give it a whirl tomorrow if i'm lucky.

I must have had too much to drink when I first had a look at the DATA folders in both layers.. I thought they had the same files exactly in them, LOL.. that's why I thought it'd rebuild to a dvd-5 no problem. Then when I had another look while sober I realised there were quite a few different files as well as copies of some files in layer 0.
Oh well, that'll teach me to drink and drive a computer, lol.

hursty, paddy, one more question:

Which programs did you used to rebuild the 2nd DVD?

Because i tried to do this rebuild with the CD/DVD Generator 1.5 and the Apache 3. But when i try to burn the rebuild ISO, the DVD Decrypter tells me that this ISO is not valid.

Sorry to bother you guys. Thanks

P.S.: DDDDAAAAAAMMMMMNNNNN! This game is hard to rebuild.

I used cd/dvd gen to make the IML file, then used IML2ISO to make the ISO, then used Nero to burn the ISO to disc using "burn image to disc" option at 4x on good 8x media. The game even boots up, but I don't have any memory card data for it to read from yet.
