Quote: By the way, does anyone know if they are still pushing the whole thing where you can download any of their previous games and play them on the wii?
This service will be implemented via the "Virtual Console". Most of the information on the vc remains hidden at the moment, but I do know that it is definately being pushed, and is in no way being scrapped.

davidleal, I really can agree with you there, great point. And on that, they are doing very well. I only wonder how many of these people Fit into, what I'll call group 'C'
You see group A doesn't play games anymore
Group B plays games, and has these titles illegally emulated
Group C is the people who will still play games, but hasn't illegally emulated them yet.
I want to know how big group C is.

Handsom i agree wwith you unfortunatelly... The last two sucked IMO, they did not represent the true tribes spirit... Vengeance was an expansion pack compared to a 'new' version.. Tribes is a PC game, i coudl not imagine it being able to be played on a console very well... If they would ahve just improved in Tribes 2 in terms of grahpics and a few more maps/weapons... and called it Tribes 3..... like really really improved on the graphics as well as some other things like easier mods... But IMO what really killed it was the Tribes 2 screens... like the idea of having it being it's own lil program really killed it ocmpared to the traditional 'join game' screen, to the in-program Forums/clan pages/buddy pages/ect ect ect... made it really really weird and also very ineffective... It was not put together very well, but i would easily take back Tribes or Starsiege....
Mechwarrior rip off? Take that back! it offered sooo much more than mech warriors.. i never did like MW, i loved starsiege though i dunno why. Just the idea of runing around in a tiny @$$ mech battling two juggernaught's and destroying them both with a chaingun is so much more appealing than mech warrior...
back to nintendo...

I'm not sure how it is that you say Vengeance was basically an expansion, then go on to describe an ideal sequel, which doesn't flesh out half of what Vengeance does. Vengeance had all new vehicles, a REAL storyline, full online, new weapons, new arenas, improved graphics, new effects, and vastly superior physics. It's honestly just like saying Quake 4 was an expansion. Quake 3 was basically only multiplayer, just like Tribes 2 was; and the singleplayer experience was just multiplayer with non scripted bots, and no real plot to speak of. Now, opinions of the quake series aside, I'm completely clueless as to how anyone can feel Vengeance wasn't a fuller package than any of the previous tribes(or starsiege) titles.
And yes Starsiege(Pre-tribes) was a horrid, despicable rip off of mechwarrior. Activision did Mechwarrior first. Activision did Mechwarrior better. Activision's mechwarrior team discovered how to program and use code in ways that had NEVER been done before, they breached the previous bit header limitations of Dos, this was literally a FIRST time in gaming history, and this is responsible for gaming as we know it, that design team PIONEERED what 3D gaming is now. So, when another design team did a similar game two years later, that ran worse, looked worse, and didn't have as much variety, yes, it was a rip off title. Sierra did a lot of those back in the day.
Although, the more it's discussed, the more I am wondering how much fun a mech type game on the Wii could be, they could do some really unique things with that. Although, nothing has been as cool as Steel Battalion(R.I.P.)

haha yea steel battalion wow... expensive game :_p
But yeah Tribes Vengeance did have alot more but IMO i just didn't like the gameplay it did not go along witht the other two.. The other two had remotely the same things, just better But I do agree with what you're saying.. Although tribes + singleplayer is not exactly meant to be... It's built from teh ground up to be more or less a multiplayer slaughtering game. :) and a hell of fun too...
If they made a new tribes, with for example the team who does Quake or Call of Duty or BF series... It would be friggin amazing.
Tribes on Wii... That would be like an orgasm in a lil disc :)

*IF* that ever happened, yes, wicked awesome. But, until the (very successful) companies responsible for those games buy out, or merge with the (very successful) company that owns the Tribes license is sold, I just don't see it happening. Vivendi Universal doesn't generally lease their IPs to other companies. And they honestly don't seem like they really have their own "Hardcore Success" design team. Unfortunately adding to that problem, the company has founded a business model on lower investment products (See: 'Almost Budget Titles'), with medium returns, it would be very unusual for them to invest much in a game, especially one that hasn't seen a huge profit in so many years. As much as I love the series, even the second one didn't sell much; although that is largely specualted to be from piracy. I just don't see VU investing much in it, if they do another sequel. What I'm hoping for, is that when VU does their next 'fat trimming session' they sell Tribes to some new or independent little ragtag group of developers. Why? Because that's the way the first one started. When a small group like that does a project, it's because they enjoy it, and have pride in it, not because they want to meet budget and schedule. And I think that is how a new Tribes game could be done well.
