Forget all those other programs, we all know what they can do... this all started because you said DVD Decrypter was all you needed to get your movies... compare AnyDVD alone with dvdd alone, and what do you have?

umm, yeah DVD Decrypter works 99% of the time. On the rare occasion it doesn't work i just use one of my other freeware utilities. Don't spend money on software!!

well, with AnyDVD's new ripper portion, not only does it eliminate copy protection, but it rips, too...rips anything. DVDD will rip and burn, but only rip stuff a year and a half and older; both require other programs to fully function. stalemate.
*edit*
don't spend money on software?....that's a bad idea. spend money on good software. this supports the development of more good software. and if it's free, you donate to the site.

I have yet to find a DVD that I couldn't rip using free software. The most current release i have ripped is V for Vendetta and that worked just fine with dated software. You forget that there is only so much they can do to defeat DVD ripping. People can not patch their dvd players to play the latest CSS so DVD is fundamentally a closed system. Puting in bad sectors in DVDs was a clever idea, but DVD Decrypter can still handle that. There are only so many clever ideas to stop copying before the DVD becomes unplayable in retail DVD players. I have yet to find a DVD I can't rip.

You sure do seem to be singing the same song as the recently deceased robspacedout1 and fetaledward. Could you be one and the same?
Auslander, your just wasting you time with this one. He's been spouting venom about AnyDVD for a while in this and another thread now as id3372; and under different pseudonyms before. What gives him away is he's a fine grammarian.

Guys, thanks very much for all your help. Using RipIt4Me worked perfectly. But why is it there is always one that needs to blow his own horn, and try to make everyone else think they're superior? I thought the idea of this forum was to help, not to bignote yourself. Again, thanks for everything.

Understand completely. But is it worth it? I mean, no one knows who you are, especially if you use numbers for your ID, so why bother? Some people... really need a reality check. If somebody has given valid aid to another user, by all means chime in with various other solutions. But to just rabbit on for the sake of seeing your name on the screen, it's just sad.

Nikki, you have already figured out forums... there are the posts you read, sometimes twice and then there are others that you skip completely or read just for some humor.

Hello. I am trying to make a back up of a Disney movie using ripit4me. During playback, of the copy, it skips over recorded material that I know is on the disk because I see it when I view it in reverse. The original plays fine and the back up disk is clean. Any thoughts?

What brand of media did you use? You can buy cheap media or you can buy good media cheap!

Thank you for replying. I have to admit some ignorance here, I am not certain what media refers to so I will guess it means brand of dvr-r. It is HP 16x. The burner is also an HP; DVD 740. I have had a lot of success with other back ups using this system but the Disneys are a challenge. They have have succeeded in making it more trouble than its worth.

I can't think of anything other than this being a media problem... Well, another couple of "possible" causes. Are you multi-tasking with your computer while backing up? You aren't putting sticky labels on your backups are you?

No sticky labels. Not really multi tasking unless internet access was going on in the back ground. I just finished reading The Golden Rules of Burning at Digital Video Forums and it reads to reduce burn speed to 4x or 8x so I will try to check my settings but I can't say I know how. Perhaps the disk itself is the only way to regulate this? (Please rsvp) Also on that page it says to use good media like verbatum which I found at walmart . com . so I will try that too. The box that my hp burner came in reads that I can use dvd + or - and I will give the + a try this time as well. Thanks.

I found that I was able to reduce the recording speed to 4x by double clicking on My Computer, right clicking on the appropriate drive and clicking on properties, then at the bottom of that window selecting a write speed.. We'll see!

I'm not sure how to answer your question...DVD Decrypter does the decrypting (which I guess you know) and DVD Shrink does the burning, I have to guess. I'm sorry but I do not know that absolutely. Did I answer your question?
In continuing to try, I have Roxio installed as well as Nero. But this I don't know how to check to see which one is doing the burning if indeed this guess is correct and it is actually one of these that is working in the background.

Jay:
Take roxio off your computer, Nero and Roxio do not get along and can cause problems. What other programs have you installed? Some programs can cause problems with others (DVD43 and AnyDVD, roxio and Nero ect.) I don't see them causing the problems you are having, but lets eliminate one problem at a time. I still am pointing to the brand of blank media (HP) as being your actual problem. Do you have an opportunity to go to a store and buy a couple verbatim, or Sony (make sure the Sonys are made in Japan)blank discs?

I can get new disks but I just made another copy of Little Einsteins Big Huge Adventure and it skips at the identical spot(s). To name one its in the 3rd chapter/scene were the space ship is about to enter onto the music scroll, it skips right over the scene but if I press reveiw its there. Perhaps Disney pulled one over on us.
Also, I do not have AnyDVD or DVD43 installed. The other software installed is PowerDVD for playing dvd's on the computer. I found the scene in the files of RipIt4me and I played it on the computer, using PowerDVD, and it played correctly there. It did not skip at the gate of the musical scroll, or roller coaster, in scene 3 like it does on the tv using a separate dvd player.
By the way thank you for your continued help here!

Have you been able to burn discs before this problem. It's probably not Roxio causing problem. Nero and Roxio can coexist fine if you just don't install Nero Incd and not let them start at startup. Exit them out after using, never a conflict; and I have had them over 2 years. IHoe also has them installed together. This is a myth!
Most people can be burninmg fine and then all of a sudden something happens. You post a log and they jump all over Roxio as being the source of the trouble. Just turn all aspects of them off when not in use!

Thanks for this garmoon, I learned something new today. As for Jay5, I am now out of answers for your problem, but I do not believe the movie is unable to be backed up... As far as I know thus far, there is no movie that can't be beat. Generally I look at blank media type, software updated, and dvd drive firmware updated when problems arise, and honestly can't think of a time anything else was the problem. Good Luck.

Hello and thanks to everyone who has participated in this conversation. It just dawned on me that if Little Einstiens is playing without skipping through PowerDVD, without the original disk in the computer, then is this a DVD Shrink issue since I only have the problem on the burnt disk?

Jay: if you are using Shrink, I think it is Nero that is doing the burning. If you have tried to slow the burn speed down and still have no luck, the one surefire way (IMO) to find a sloution to this is for you to download the trial vrsion of CloneDVD and try to burn your movie using this program. I find it odd that Nero would have the problems you are having.. but stranger things have happened. In Nero you should be able to adjust your burn speed I think (Sorry, not that intimate with Nero.. I use CloneDVD). Good luck, don't give up, I know 100% that this movie can be backup... we just need to find out the problem.
And also, as for Nero and Roxio co-existing, as I understand, it depends on your system, some will allow it, others cause you problems.
