I concur with BlivetNC's method, with one addition. I strip the garbage after ripping (VobBlanker), then use PGCEdit to build the ISO/set the layer break. It, in turn, fires up ImgBurn for the actual burn once it's accomplished its work. Works fantastically regardless of whether I use Verb or Ritek DLs.

The Ritek are OK and maybe not as good as Verbatim. I personally believe Ritek is losing the DL war in term of technical and pricing.
Recently I had some Aone bought fm BP, and the quality seems to be good given the pricing.

Recommend to try, but dont think it the same quality as Verb, but much cheaper.

thanks for the info regarding imgburn. I will start using that from now on. Do I really need to turn AnyDVD off when burning? How about when ripping? I've heard that AnyDVD sometimes screws up backups when burnt to dvd but never experienced that problem.

Also, I have some DVD-Video files ripped to my hard drive for a DL backup using Nero 6.6. Is there a way to convert Video files back to an iso? I know there are tons of programs that turn an iso to video files.

I'll never use Ritek DL's again, only Verbs! Out of 10 Ritek + DL discs only one gave a good verify test with ImgBurn. The others failed in one of 2 spots. Either early (round the first third of the burn) before the layer change & a few failed sometime after the layer change. These were burned at 2.4x with ImgBurn on a defragged HD. Tried burning the same movies with Verb + R DL. Result? Perfect burns & testing. All done at 2.4x for the Ritek (it wouldn't burn at 4x even with latest Plextor firmware) & 4x for the Verbs. I could have burned one of the Verbs at 6 or 8x but didn't try...

Ritek is good for the 52x CDR's and they seem to be OK with the F-1 16x - R DVDR's but the DL media? Forget it. I'm not buying another pack. Ever!!
