*Breathes in*....(holds for 2 sec's)....*Breathes out* (X10)

Ok, Now I'm calm :-D

I don't know how to make this point any clearer!!

Quote:
change to utorrent and everything will be ok....and if you use private trackers you will need utorrent as many have banned bitcomet amongst others ...
*Cough*, *cough*...(B/S), Do you know why BitComent WAS banned from most trackers?...

Because its developers thought it would be a good idea for it to by default have DHT enabled (without the option of disabling it), this was a virtual network "on-top" of the BT protocol.

Allowing data to be transferred, faster and more efficiently, unfortunately this means ANYONE can leech, private torrents are under the private flag, so DHT meant that the private flag was useless, also it meant that files would be distributed alot further, hence it being deemed a tracker killer.

This flaw was with version .6!, BC is now running V.7, from what my sources tell me that its just fine, so think, just for a nanosecond before you post advice that is...well, crap :-)

Just post padders me thinks...the only reason why I actually replied in this situation before I hit the report button is that new members/guests etc actually see theese posts and belive that there true, what your actually doing is telling someone flase information that will cause them pain, its just the same as when someone pull's up and asks:

Person A#

"Excuse me, so you know where xxxyyzzz is?"

Person B#

"Yeh, its just up there mate *waves hand in any random direction*"

Person A#

"Cheers, have a nice day"

-Person A comes back after 15 mins and realises that person B is still in the same location, Person A throws a ash tray at Person B#

Person A#

"You gor it wrong, f**king retard, thanks for nothing!"

--End--

I hope this has taught you all a valuable lesson ;-)

*Breathes in deep*You should re-edit for spelling, more typo's and general language Rav :-P...
And let's not forget you didn't include the cheating aspects of BitComet, like hammering trackers and other peers, forcefully taking up connections to peers, etc etc *yes, these are CURRENT issues*.*breathes out sharply and has a go at his punching bag*

Wow, this is like listening to a bunch of kids argue, not meaning to offend any of the moderators of course.

I myself have the same problem with BC, & reached this thread thus from google.

I must say though, I am an extremely experienced user with a very extensive understanding of windows, as well as a very wide range of programs. As far as Bitcomet screwing up someone's machine, it does not have to do with the fact that it is Bitcomet, because it is NOT. Every program is different & WILL act differently on EVERY machine, regardless of what people may think, that is how software works. As far as catching a virus, well, that would come from downloading an infected file, as rav009 said. As far as advising someone to switch clients...well, unless you are a software engineer, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Switching clients, may or may not solve the problem, but most likely it will only trade one set of problems for another. If the only advice you can provide for people seeking advice on how to fix the problem they are having, is to switch clients, then you really have nothing to offer to help the situation & I would also be willing to bet that from this type of action, your registry is beyond screwed from this behavior.

Now, I am using BC v .70 & have never had this problem before, & indeed did not have the problem until this morning. However, I recently upgraded my OS to Windows Vista RC1, which was working just fine with BC without any problems EVER. But, you never know, a problem of this sort could be caused by a dozen different things & would take days to properly diagnose. I will try a reinstall & see what happens.

My apologies to the moderators in advance if I offend anyone with this post.
You guys are doing a good job keep it up. Peace.

I couldn't have put it better myself, the next time I see a post of the "switch clients" nature, I'm going to quote that...well said.
