Hi all,
I recently had to re-install my PC and lost everything on my hard drive. While downloading and installing all the software I use, I installed BitComet0.72 (I used to have V0.69, I thing). I just noticed earlier today that my CPU usage seems to be at 100% constantly. At first I thought I got some bug or adware, but when I check my Windows Task Manager, I realised BitComet was using a lot of the CPU's resources. I then shut down BitComet, and sure enought the CPU usage jump down to norm. And it went ok for a while after I start downloading with BitComet again. However, the same thing happen again later.
Do anyone know about this problem? If so can you please tell me how I can fix it? Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem.
Could it be something to do with the 0.72 release of bitcomet, because i didnt have this problem with previous releases of bitcomet. It has only started happening since i have installed bitcomet0.72.
If anyone knows a solution, i would appreciate if you could post some information on it.
If it is a problem with the 0.72 release of bitcomet, maybe the developers should be contacted and told of this problem.

BitVomit is a horrible client I recommend switching to Utorrent immediately as a lot of private trackers have banned the bit**** clients.
Spellcheck is a nice invention.
Using BitVomit hurts the swarm your in, get a decent client.

Hey there jungning,
Welcome to AfterDawn :-)
Try uninstalling & reinstalling BitComet.
Delete the folder in BOLD after you uninstall it:
C:/Program Files/BitComet
Then simply reinstall.
BitComet Download
http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm
@tnarulz,
Firstly, welcome to AfterDawn,
No, that was with previous releases, in theese later releases you have the option of enabling or disabling DHT, which was the initial worry as DHT = Tracker killer, BitComet have now fixed thoose issues, also in this forum we don't puch certain clients, there were a few threads of this as some users push uT, we want users to use whatever they please, not to convert to uT for nothing!
Stop the uT "Fix" threads
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/390475
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/392484
Asking him to switch in this case is pointless, it won't solve anything, will only hastle them, hence it being bad advice, one of the reasons why we at this site don't push any particular client.
Its OK though, I understand that probably didn't know :-)

I second what Rav said.
If you are experienceing alot of problems witm BC 0.72 you can download 0.69 from here http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download-achive.htm
it has list of all previous BC apps available for download.
I reccomend not to download apps older than version 0.69 as they are glicthy and have many a bug.
What I reccomend you get if you want to stick with BC is 0.70 I haven't had problems with that back when I used to use it.
Kind Regards, BluRay.

@ rav
I stand by my comment on BitVomit, the private trackers I'm on either ban it outright or tell you not to use it no matter what version it is, and after seeing the people that do use it ask for help with it on the forums for the trackers, I am glad I never made the mistake of using any of that crap.

Hi tnarulz ,
Your entitled to your own opinion, the fact that you do not advocate BitComet is not what you did wrong, its the fact that you told him to switch to uT, in a situation where switching would be nothing but hastle, I use uTorrent myself, but we in this forum don't push any particular torrent client, we belive people are free to use whatever they wish, why should we push uT (though its good) in many situations (like this one), switching to it will do nothing to solve the problem.

You see now?
We don't push certain clients because if we do, it just causes the user haslte that isn't nessecary, anyways, lets continue with the thread :-D

Well the high usage could be related due to the reason it's banned from many trackers (repeated disconnects and reconnects) so actually that would be an important factor in deciding not to use bitvomit.

Its a bug in the instalation, or in the version possibly.
Reinstalling it would be the ideal thing to do, also your missing the point, bigging up and putting down clients only starts flame wars, keep your opinion on "BitVomit" to yourself, I don't use it, but I don't go and degrate it when a user does.

Thanks you all so much for replying to my querry. I went through the "un-install and re-install" prcedures a few times because for some reason my pc just wouldn't take BitComet 0.69 and 0.70. But now I got BitComet 0.71 working and no problem so far. But I had some problem when I tried to continue downloading where I left it off. I mainly download audio books and movies, I was able to continue downloading the incomplete audio books alright but a few movie files simply won't do so and start from 0%. I double check the file location but made no different, what a pain. Anyway, thank you guys again for your help!

Hello all. I would recommend never ever ever ever using bitcomet again. It messed up my pc so bad I had to work on it for hours on end. It's the worst thing that's ever happened to my pc. Do yourself a favor and go with utorrent. Laters

Hi pstamer,
Sorry, but thats complete and utter rubish, firstly, if you are going to make acusations, back them up, also lets not flame clients, its the users choice as to what sugegstion they take, so don't tell us that BitComet was the wosrt thing that ever happend to your PC because it only creates flames, which you knew as if you read a few posts up you can see that...
It seems to me you posted that purposely to create flames, I use uTorrent myself, but what pisses me off is when people think that its perfect and start flame wars backing up this b/s theory, in reality uT could do with a few majour improvements feature wise, one of the many reasons it amazes me when I see people using it as a fix for issues like this... >:-S

No flames intended. I apologize if anyone was offended by my comments. When I said it was the worst thing thats happened to my computer, I meant that literally. My pc was working fine before I installed and used that prog. I got this terrible virus. I think we're all adults here and have the ability to get our points across in a civilized manner. No flames intended here. Some people are a little too defensive rave009. I think you can express yourself a little more adult-like. Again I apologize for the offense. Laters

Hi,
My username is rav009, not rave009, heheh :-)
Secondly, the fact you downloaded a infetced torrent is your fault and has nothing to do with client choice.
Thirdly,
Quote: Some people are a little too defensive rave009. I think you can express yourself a little more adult-like.
I see your point but the fact that you posted advice that was potentially useless & time wasting AND saw a user getting told by ddp not to flame BT software is what got me, the comments about me expressing myself in a non-adult manner weren't nessacery at all, but I'll just let them slide, I'm personally not too offended, so all is cool......
Lmao @ the pic Bubba :-D

Telling someone to switch clients is NOT A VALID SOLUTION.
