No you don't need a previous install to use it. Just use the serial # you have for Nero not the one in this download.

Give this free burning program a shot - see if the problem is w/ Nero or the discs your using - ImgBurn.

If you doing the video files use the build mode to burn.

I'm certain the problem is with Nero, since CDBurnerXPPro burned the disc just fine... it didn't play in the DVD player because CDBXP doesn't support UDF... but that's no fault of the media or the drive.

What I want to figure out is what triggers Nero into rejecting the DVD+Rs. It burns them fine upon restarting the computer, but as soon as I use DVD43 and Nero Recode it starts rejecting them... until I reboot. I need to run some more tests, but currently I don't have anything in need of burning. I'll post again when I figure out what the culprit is.

I'd start w/ DVD43 - it's been known to cause conflicts.

You can try AnyDVD running in the background or rip w/ DVDFab Decrypter.
But uninstall DVD43 1st - doesn't always play well w/ either of these.
