on the tax issue : I'm no a tax attorney or CPA - & I don't play one on TV LOL! - I Think it may vary by state ,But I believe that if your ordering online and the company your getting your product from has a store or outlet in your state even if your ordering from say New York & you live in Texas if they have a store /facility in Texas they are supposed to charge you state taxes ! even if your product is shipping from the New York facility ! Some states put you on the honor system when ordering online - Your supposed to pay state taxes , but you have to remit them to the state yourself ! instead of the company your buying from adding them to your order ! Whew !!! Now that your suitably confused Happy Holidays !!!!!!!!!CIAO!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817130008

Verb +R DL 20-pack $40 - 10 rebate = $30 delivered to your door.

I've never had any probs with rebates from Newegg. Limited to one rebate though.

I am confused here, WHY order the Verbatim Dual Layers online, wait for the order, go through the whole rebate process,(Hope you get it in a few months!) and when you do get your order, hope they are in good condition, when all you need to do is walk into Best Buy, pick them up, pay for them and leave?
The end result is the same, the bottom line: Price, 30 bucks from Best buy for 20 Verbatim Dual Layer Discs.
And, No Waiting for a rebate, you see they are in good condition, you buy as many as your wallet allows. Still, 30 bucks for 20 Awesome DVD+R DL Verbs!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Perhaps you can get a Friend to pick some up for you while they are in that town? Or, even better, get a few Friends together, split the gas, and make a trip to Best Buy? They have a lot of deals on Electronics in General, not just Computer Stuff.
Just a thought. I freakin Hate Rebates! They keep your money for as long as they like. Sometimes up to 6 months!

Never had problems with newegg , But last pack of Verbatims I bought through them came with rebate which Verbatim did not honor - Claimed my UPC label was not with paperwork I sent in therefore unable to process , But if I could send in the upc which I alredy sent in (IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!) they would process my rebate ! I wrote a review mentioning this on Newegg for this product( VERBATIM MEDIA) not that I blame Newegg it was Verbatims rebate after all ! but more a warning to potential rebate seeking buyers ! Newegg contacted me about 4mo. later with humble apologies & after a back & forth email fest offered to make good on the rebate - Current status Still waiting ? In meantime ordered more verbatims through another vendor & after all rebates ( GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT Are'nt I ?) total cost for the 100ct. spindle will be $10.00 - This time I photocopied the entire wrapper & sent the original in with my paperwork - Got a email that my rebate is being processed so hopefully I'll actually get it this time ! ( R.A.Y.O.R !!! - Rebate at your own Risk !!! - I prefer just a straight up good deal ( instant rebate ( without all the paperwork ) but that's life ! Good Luck & Buyer Beware- Happy X<mas!!!!!!!

I've done hundreds of rebates over the past few years and have never had a problem, save one, which was easily remedied with a phone call. Almost all the rebates have been via Newegg, buy.com, Amazon, Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy and Circuit City. I prefer instant rebates, but if the deal is a good one, I'll take it if I need the product.

laddyboy- Understand that ! I'm a big fan of Newegg and Verbatim But that's what happened & as I said the rebate was actually verbatims & not Newegg's ! Just trying to make a point - Be aware & take care ! Take care all & merry Christmas !

@ BIGTOXY69

I understand your point and agree with it actually. I was just making the point that I haven't had any real problems with rebates other than having to fill out the stupid forms, sending said forms in, and then sitting on my hands and waiting. I'd rather get a reduction in sales price instead of a rebate, but if the deal is good enough, I'll bite and wait for the rebate. I fully understand why people hate doing so. Count me in that group. I haven't paid for a Norton Antivirus or Systemworks update in years. I always wait until I get them free with rebates usually from Staples. I have two antiviruses and one systemwork that I haven't even installed from last year. I guess they weren't really free with sales taxes and the cost of postage, but what the heck. I supply my parents and brother with free software when they need to update.

Oh The Humanity of it all !- Agree with the good deal aspect & like rebates as long as they work ! Appreciate your thoughts as well! I guess I'm just a once bitten twice shy type personality ! you know the adage " fool me once Shame on You " Fool me twice shame on me !" I suppose it was an Isolated incident & I should go the whole benefit of the doubt routine & apparently The next rebate is being processed so I have'nt completely lost my faith in Human kind ! But I will atleast be wary from henceforth . The whole trip behind rebates is like the Lifetime warranty on your Muffler or the 5 year rating on a car battery ! They either the company who is handling the rebate fulfillment ( This process is often contracted out ) or the Manfacturer /seller are counting on most people to not actually mail in the rebate or to mail it in too late making it void !! also if they Contract the rebate Processing out & you get stung they can always blame the contractor and appear all innocent like ! For those who actually send in the rebate it's still a small price to pay for increased sales ! But I understand you & agree with your logic ! Happy Bargain hunting & Merry Chtristmas or whichever holiday you observe enjoy ! Peace!
