It is, but the link is dead, like I posted earlier. You need to find it somewhere else; I have looked, to no avail :-(
EDIT: That is the right link; it should be hacked firmware, from the dangerous brothers :-)

LOL
from one M.D. to another, i have gone ahead and uploaded the file you need myself, happy fw flashing :)
http://www.fastdump.net/959727-111DX829.ZIP
be sure to read up on proper flashing procedures along with heeding the advice from the other members here regarding flashing, it takes a little getting used to, but once you understand how to cross-flash, it's not brain surgery (wait, that's what I do LOL) :)

Can you give me a link. Is it not a matter of simply running the file. I was told to do it in steps, start with 8.19, make sure it is OK, then 8.25, then 8.29.
I am a "lowly" F.P. and Occ Med Doc, heavily involved with Workplace drug testing! Anyone need any help with drug testing!? O_0

I plan to purchase the Pioneer DVR-111D - OEM from Newegg soon. This hacked firmware is marked as DVR-111D hacked external firmware.
I'm a bit confused with the word EXTERNAL (external drive ?). I would believe this firmware should work with the burner I plan to purchase above. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you.

Some external Pioneer drives are makred as other drive models which are infact 111Ds, in an external casing. The EXTERNAL firmware is for those drives.
Is that clear to you?

Right. Mine is an external DVD drive, hooked up to my computer with a USB connection. I used the above mentioned firmware upgrades or files to update the chip, and it worked just fine.
I have not had a chace to burn any DVD+ media yet, but will do so soon.
If you have any questions let me know, since I have just done it, and perhaps can help you find what you are looking for. I found mine on overstock.com. I think I listed the auction in my original post.

I see. Is that case I'll need the hacked firmware for this drive as an internal unit. Thanks.
