guys im reley new to the psp thing but whats the difference between 1.00 and 2.00??

Well firmware 1.00 can run all homebrew. But firmware 2.00 can only run some homebrew. But you can upgrade a firmware 2.00 PSP to firmware 2.71 which can run all homebrew as well.

The most preferable firmwares for using homebrew are firmware 1.5 and firmware 2.71 (and also cutom firmware like 2.71 SE-C).

@JParkes- You can also run some homebrew on 2.82, so I guess thats classified as hacked.

hey just joined up and got me a psp, i have a v2.71. so what do i need to do to be able to back up a psp game on a memstick so i can play it? or download them off the net and store them on memstick....please help real new to all this psp stuff.

Hey JParkes, if you want a lower version (as they said, the lower the version, the better), you're most likely gonna have to get a used psp. Because I highly doubt any of their new psp's would have the lower firmwares.

So you should ask them if they have any used psp's with firmware 2.0 or below. And if you are going to ask them about the used psp's, don't ask about the letter on the box, because there is a chance the previous owner upgraded the psp.

I sure wish I had known about this place before I had gotten my psp. haha

Ye, they sell PSP's people have traded in. Its a good shop. I get my games from their, trade in my old ones (dont get much, but better than getting nothing) and get new ones.
