Hi RBROCK,

Thanks for your response. I am convinced I need to get a new drive.

But please help to debug the problem since I can not even write data and mp3 files on DVD+R media, but I can on DVD+RW and CD-R/RW. Why? There is something going on but I can't find it.

Did you update your Firmware ? It's got to be the new disc in that old burnner

I'll bet the DVD+R discs you are using are 16X and the DVD+RW are 2.4X. Your drive cannot recognize 16X media, but it will work with the older 2.4X DVD+RW (and even some 4X DVD+R--but they are no longer available.) Time and progress have passed your drive by. You need a new drive.
