Wow! Verbs back on sale. I picked up 200 (4 spindles) a few weeks ago when they were on sale at Best Buy. Might just pick up some more.
However, I have experienced some variations in the MCCO4s. I had been using some that had PAPA on the inner hub and they burned great. 3 of the last 4 spindles I picked up a few weeks ago had PAP6 on the inner hub and they burn fine but not quite as good as the PAPA one. The PAP6 seems to have higher PIF and PIE errros. The last spindle I got had nothing but serial numbers on it which I found out were made by Prodisc. It fared better than the PAP6 ones.

Has anyone else noticed the MCC04 variations in the +R media?

Also are the -R impacted by the variations also. I generally don't burn -R media because of booktyping issues. However I wonder how well the Verb -R )MCC03, I presume, burn in a BENQ burner?????

If the -R burn just as good as the +R, I might pick up a spindle of those....

I checked my +R Verbs last night. I bought about 5 50pc spindles awhile back from OM. I've opened 2 spindles and one was PAPA, the other was PAP6. Not sure about the others as they remain unopened. The 100 pack spindle I bought from Newegg was PAPA though. Just for kicks I check the -Rs and they're MAP6. Who knows, maybe it's the same deal w/ the -Rs where there may be a MAPA and MAP6? Can anyone confirm?

I picked up 3 spindles of Verbs the other day--2 +R and 1 -R. All three of the inner hubs had only serial numbers in them. They burn allright, but the PAPA are definitely the best if you can find them. I checked out the spindles and could not find a way from the outside to differentiate the PAPA coded ones from the PAP6 from the serial number coded MCC04s.

That's what I expected, CMC Mags Philips. I didn't want to condemn until someone provided the poison.

I have a few of those spindles too, and they're the same, just different packaging. Also they only had serials on the inner ring, so they aren't the PAPA quality, but still very good. Been getting 98-93% quality on the Nero disc quality scan.

I hadn't even though of checking until you mentioned it, but yea they're CMCMAGAM3. I haven't had a problem with any burns so far though.

If you don't see PAPA hub codes, that means they are made by Prodisc and not CMC.

PAPA and PAP6 Verbatims are made by CMC, for those who don't know.

Verbatims with a different kind of long serial number code are made by Prodisc.
