with TY's, brand of burner doesn't really matter. they work exceedingly well with everything. recommended burning speed is half the rating of the disc, up to the limit of a burner. i.e. you have a burner good for 16x and discs rated 8x, burn at 4x.
if i came of harsh to you fellows earlier, that's your perception. i'm not going to be dancing around, singing "happy happy joy joy," for a thread whose results could have been found easily in a search, nor display smileys when i'm in a mood of dismay over being requested for information that is not only asked more than a dozen times a week but is also found in a variety of stickies and any guide where burning is required on this forum.
*edit*
you'd find my mood justifiable if you just spent a week working on multiple threads with people, trying to get them able to burn dvds, only to find out at the end that they didn't even have a dvd burner and then needed a spoonfed, step-by-step guide to install a burner.
google = good
search = good
clogging forums with same old crap and driving knowledgable members who are here to try to help with problems and not spout more information that's easily found and thus lower internet intellect standards and effort put forth even more than the already tragically low levels = bad

rephrasing what he said: Tayo Yuden are the dvd-rs you should be looking for (best quality) and burn at half the speed of the supported disk (e.g. Verbatim dvd-r 16x= burn at 8x; DVD-R 8x= burn at 4x) :) :)
