I would look for Sony MIj ( Made In Japan Media ) which should Identify out by media Code as Either Taiyo Yuden or Sony , Taiyo Yuden Being preffered ! but The japanese Sony's are'nt bad either But The MIJ sony/Taiyo Yudens are Equal To and perhaps better than the Verbatim ! Also if You can find some Maxells That are ( MIJ -Made In japan ) They are excellent to ! as they are made by Hitachi/maxells parent company and are top quality ! The Short list as as Follows ! In My opinion anywaY - 1.st Choice in DVD media Taiyo Yuden or Verbatims ! The taiyo yudens can be either MIJ sony / Fuji or Taiyo yudens ordered online ! 2. Japanese Made SONY'S or Maxell's ,3. Sony's made in taiwan.4 Ritek or Ricohjpn made media ( Made in taiwan - Includes Maxells / and Officedepot media made by Either of those two But Predominately Ritek ! The OfficeDepot Branded Riteks are usually cheaper on sale than the maxells and are the same quality differing cosmetically!!! { Note this is OFFICEPOT branded media and Not ATIVA brand which they also sell Ativa is crap ( CMC mag ) stay away from that ! For the folks who are looking for Verbatim DLs, OfficeMax is STILL selling them for $15 per 10. That's about as good as you're going to find anywhere. Shipping isn't much if you don't have an OfficeMax near you and I think it's free over $50 or so.

-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
