If anyone has a membership to Sams Club you can get a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD+R or DVD-R's for roughly $9.00 after tax. I have never been there before, but happened to go there yesterday with a friend and he bought three 50 packs. Thats the cheapest I have seen them. I might get a membership there for that price, but of course if you have a friend who has a membership thats even cheaper. P.S. They also had the 100 pack of memorex different colored slim jewel cases for $12.99, I did grab some of those. The plain 100 pack slim jewel cases at office depot are $30.00! What a joke! /Unjust

Then lets stop rambling about CDR's in a DVDR forum & forget about it. I just posted the sales info in the wrong forum....

Jasper, we love what you post, personally I prefer just the good stuff, nobody I know runs out to buy Memosux or CMC regardless of the price.
Supermediastore.com has the 8X Taiyo Yuden DVD-R disks for $57.99 for 200, free ground shipping and free paper sleeves, can't go wrong there.
search for Item DVD-R47ZZSB8 to find the listing.

BurningAs- I would'nt be to Hard on Verbatim or The other DVD media Manufacturers!!! They're Only Packaging Their disc in Quantities That Their Customers Want ! But By customers I don't mean You , Myself of any other reasonable Human being be they Afterdawner's Or not? But Their Main Customer The Reatilers ( Like WAL Mart !!!!!) Kmart Ect..... !!!!!!!!!! This has been a trend that has developed over Time ! Smaller Quantities of media for Higher prices ! Compared with Standard Ct. Spindles 50/ 100 ect.. & It appears that it mainly a matter of Economic Rape !!!!! almost Like the oil comapnies !!!! By selling the uninformed consumer smaller quantities of DVD media at higher prices The retilers Increase their Profit margin by leaps and bounds ! Just like they do when someone who does'nt know whats what Buys a 100 Ct. Spindle of DVD media of any brand for Full reatil Price normally $49.99-$79.99 or there abouts ! instead of the sale price of $ 24.99- $29.99 or so !!! & The retailers try to catch people with this trick on everything from Off Brand media Like Dynex , Crap like memorex to Sony or Verbatim!! Why ? Greed !!!!!That's why? The informed like you BurningAs, Myself and the other esteemmed members of Afterdawn.com know better ! So it's on sale or No Sale!!!!!!!!!!! . I can see the reasoning For Higher Prices on some Specialty Media ( DVD+R DL , Lightscribe media , Or Double sided Single Layer disc )As these Items are Niche markets !!! DVD+R DL having a higher in-house/factory Failure rate cost more to make ! More disc are scrapped during assembly/Mfr. vs. single layer media !! Thus increasing cost ! Lightscribe is a limited market item! & They're not realy pushing /advertising well ( Like Sony Did with The MD Format at first!!) and the Double Sided Single Layer Disc are again a Niche Item ! While the concept is good The cost per disc makes it more economical to just use two single layer disc instead! So as i said for these items I can see the premium cost ! I don't like or agree with it But I understand!!! - Another thing is Having Come to DVD-Dom from a mainly audio/Hi-fi Background I've seen this Whole packaging Ruckus before ! I was a Big tape head !!! Mainly cassetes ,But with dalliances with Open REEl , 8tracks , Beta & Vhs hifi , ect... And One thing I noticed in particular with cassettes mainly was there was limited packaging standardization ! Most retailers either sold cassettes by singles , Polybagged multiples or in Bricks ( Usually Multiples of 5 - 5, 10,15,20 But a Brick was not a standard size Any quantity over one cassette could be a Brick ? I've seen them sold in(bricks ) of as little as two! My opinion is the same thing is being done with DVD media at the reatilers request ! Spindles of 15, 30, 75 instead of 50 or 100cts. that we know and want! I would vote with my wallet & not buy the smaller high priced packs Other than the Specialty media mentioned earlier if you needed them ! & stick to the 50's&100's on sale ! well That's how I see it ! IMHO only of course ! Good luck BurningAs & happy shopping !!!!!!!!!!!!!CIAO!

How good are the Sony DVD-Rs? Will they hold up? Right now I'm in the process of going back through all my backups and placing them onto Verts but I only have a few left. Will the Sony's do until next week when Verbs hopefully go back on sale?

Thanks!!!!

I just checked our Staples ad for this week and the only DVDs on sale are some brand called Playo. They are $4.98 for a pack of 60 so I'm going to take that these are crap. Are Sony's on sale at a different store?
