To me it seems like you have 1 of those very picky Wii's
Try ordering some Verbatim or Tayio Yuden DVD-R you can get them from the online store below...

You also might need to replace your burner.

it is really picky but i noticed that when i backup the games i own and play them they work but the ones like mp8 vortex doesnt work

It works because I have the Vortex MP8 as well and have had no issues with it.

As I have stated before you will have to buy them and try them. Every Wii is not the same so just because some media work for others doesn't mean they will work for you.
You will have to find out yourself if they will work. We cannot guarantee 100% that they will work.

hi all I just about to finish downloading Mario Party 8 and using a TDK DVD+R disc. hehehe now my Wii is japanese and my Firmware now is 2.2J and been able to play super paper mario... Now my question is Does Mario Party 8 requires to update the already updated Wii while playing Paper Mario? Or do you still need to update the Wii before playing Mario Party 8?
Currently Playing: The Godfather Blackhand Edition
couldn't play SPM because of causing to be bricked...

If Mario party 8 prompts for the update you will need to go ahead and except the update.
Since your NTSC(J) is already 2.2J you will have nothing to worry about. It will check to see what update you have and once it see's you have 2.2J it will actually skip the update.
So since you have the 2.2J update it is safe to except the update if you get a prompt for it.

You have to update through internet... since the Wii already has a Wifi so you need to find a wireless internet connection... or you could also buy an official nintendo USB to LAN adapter and connect it..

If you do not have an Internet connection then you will need to find a Game Disc that has the latest firmware on it. Make sure the Game Disc is the same Region as what your Wii is.

If Mario Party 8 Worked then you would be fine. According to the compatibility wiki, it doesn't play on PAL.
Just keep your Wii up to date using internet updates and you should be fine. Just update online before trying an import.

Asking were downloading games is illegal and against the rules its piracy if you download a $50 game then burn it into a disc u payed what 50 cents for the disc and got a $50 game out of it? Its illegal

In some countries it is not against the law to download a game for Backup purposes.
If you think the post is against the rules then report it. Thats the Mods job to decide if it is or it isn't not yours.

i put mario party 8 on a sony DVD+R 16x as well as all my other games and they work just fine. i havent tried the TY, maxell, or the verbatim but its like you said the wii's are picky and what i would suggest is when you find a good dvd stick with it. if you get a DRE they try the burn again and if you still get one then try one of the different types of dvds. also try putting the game in more than once. the first time i put my mario party 8 in it didnt work, and i got a DRE. then i took it out and tried it again... presto mario party for like the last 3 hours. all the good dvds have been tested and are here on a silver platter so just experiment. the guy who put my wiikey in for me said he uses sony DVD-R and he only burns at 6x cause he's had problems with other speeds (including 2x and 4x). so pretty much, like i said, just find the one that works for you and stick with it.

ok i downloaded the vortex mario party 8 and burt it to a verbatim like all my other working games, but when i first put the game in it said it needed to perform an update, i freaked and turned the console off, ive already got the lastest update, so i checked the net to see if it could be brick, didnt seem as if it would happen, so it performed the update without problems, it now shows i have mario party in the console, but when i push start to play, its just a blank screen i get and nothing happens. i have early model PAL wii with wiikey installed

Vortex Mario Party 8 is USA NTSC. Since your Wii is play it requires to update your system... and if you ever played SPM and updated your system.. it MP8 should work perfectly fine

It should work todays latest firmware is 2.2... my wii is 2.2J because a japan version... By the way i downloaded My SPM burn it on TDK DVD+R... played it.. finished it.. next after I play Mario Party which i also downloaded from Vortex my wii is perfect... do damage done so far.. :)
