Ok just make sure you go slowly. If you get to a point where the temps are too high turn it back down.

Your graphics card is outdated, but still relatively powerful. It's your CPU letting you down, the 3000+ is way too slow to play modern games luike Crysis.
Don't change your graphics card yet.

hehe. anyway back to this problem!
i dont think i can upgrade my mobo (money issues) do you personally thing that upgrading to the X2 4000+/4200+ would make it so i can play these modern games?
thanks.

Dude that was HALF A YEAR ago. You have anyway idea how much technology can change in that time?
Anyway I'm sure the X2 CPU would help a lot.

That was a bit of a hiccup then, because even back then the 8800GTX was the best GPU. I may have meant 'on a realistic budget' though, or at least I hope I did!

oh well lol, im very happy with it and i use a website called system requirement labs to check out my games (fantastic site!!) compared to my system and the processor is the only red. my gfx card seems to always be full bars on even the latest most demanding games. hopefully itll become green when i get the X2 i dont want to be wasting my money lol!

The 4000+ doesn't exist for Socket 939, so the 3800 and 4200 are your two options.

i read a few reviews for the 3800+ 2ghz one and they said they could run crysis well, but that may just be a one off lol!

The 3800+ is fine for gaming. It's not so great for video encoding etc., but for games, with a good graphics card you'd hardly notice the difference between the 3800+ and a decent core 2 duo.

Im running a socket 939 3800+ x2 and quite satisfied with its performance. I think it will give him the boost he needs and probably the best option on a budget.
Also the socket 939 x2s have been known to outperform their socket am2 counterparts for some reason. (I have seen a couple benchmarks which showed these results for the x2 3800+)
