Hmm, I wouldn't recommend doing so, the CPU would probably run very hot in games, as stock CPU heatsinks are meant to let the CPU get quite hot anyway. I'd keep an eye on your temperatures using speedfan or a similar program. As for the thermal paste, a blob, but when I say that, I mean a very small one, no more than half the size of a short grain of rice.

Indeed. Heatsinks made for the single core Athlon64 may not be adequate for a dual core, since the latter produces far more heat.
