<shrug> I got my Swap Magic last week. I modded my PS2 slim (79001) and my son's 79001 (which had all three sensors that needed to be blocked) using duct tape (I opened the case - I tried without opening using straw and after a very long time of frustration I said forget it and just opened them.

I have burned at least 20 discs since then. Two did not work. For all the ones that did work, I used CloneDVD at 8x speed. The first couple I did at 1x, then 2x, then I got cocky and jumped to 8x and am still doing OK (knock on wood). The two that didn't work I had in .mdf format (I think?) and used PowerISO and they didn't load at all. I am not using expensive discs (Memorex and TDK I think - whatever I get at Amazon for $25 for 100). Maybe I've just been lucky. :)

Haven't figured out the whole PS1, usb flash drive, elf something or the other, etc. yet. That's the next project. Oh, and I'm not happy with my performance on getting PALs to works. I can get them to load, but they are pushed down the screen too far for me to be happy with them. Maybe I'll figure that out. (In particular, I wanted Singstar 90s and the words aren't visible with it pushed down.)

I have both a fat and slim ps2. I have burnt a large number of PS2 games using both dvd decrypter and nero.

I have never had an issue with my games, and I am using a version 7 fat ps2, and a slim version 14. Why you have so many headaches, I can't explain.

Good luck on your journey though.
