Sony D21(+1x-16x) are pretty good,on the Made in Taiwan spindles. I just picked up 200 at staple's sunday. Sony D12 was the older +1x- 8x speed.
Verbatim are MCC,meaning Mitsubishi chemical corp. They have prodisc and cmags making their media=made in taiwan=,but with verbatim's advanced metal azo dye and strict quality standards. Some have noticed a quality difference between the cmag verbs and prodisc verbs. If they're made in India, then MBI=Moser Bauer of India=is most likely the manufacturer, but using verbatims quality dye and standards.. Taiyo Yuden has also made some of the verbatim, and will say Made in Japan.
Made in singapore verbatim yields the best DL verbatim media.

Just wanted to say I went to a different Staples today - #1 hoping to luck out and perhaps see some T-Y SONY's in stock instead of the D21's like at the other store, but if not then get more of D21's and pickup a spindle of 100 & see if those are also D21s.
Long story short, no Japanese (T-Y) SONY's in sight, same stock as the Staples I went to yesterday, all the +Rs "made in Taiwan" and -Rs "made in Malaysia". I picked up a 100 pack spindle of the SONY's, figuring they would also be D21 like the 50 I got yesterday but curious to see for sure.
And yes, checking now, the 100 pack is also D21. I think perhaps a packaging giveaway might be the "ACCUCORE" symbol (?).
So I'll be using the D21s for now. Hoping the Verbatim's I usually get go back on sale again at Ink Stop/Best Buy. The error rates on the D21s in my burner are acceptable but nowhere as good as the Verbatims or T-Ys.
Thanks all!

I'll have to take a closer look at the sony -16x when I go to staple's thursday to pick up some more sweet D21's. All the +16x's I looked at were MIT.
I did notice that MBI's were invading all their +16x Memorex, UGGH! Over a year of coding as Ricoh's,and now nothing but MBI's and Cmags.

I was in Target today and found that the 100 spindle of Sonys 16x + or - were $21.48. It had a red sticker on them like they were on clearance or something. I don't believe this was an advertised special and I didn't ask any questions, just grabbed one and checked out.

Verbs vs. Sony's
I like & use both. Both are High Quality these days as long as they're made in Taiwan. I have noticed 1 difference. Check for yourselves. The Verbatim Discs are a little "thicker" than the Sony's. I tend to prefer the Verbatims due to long reputation of reliability.
Of course, if I can get Taiyo Yudens, it's a no brainer. But they are scarce unless you order online. I like to look, touch and feel before buying.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Some good news (& bad news) this week.
Best Buy has Verbatim +R and -R on sale this week for $12.99 per spindle!! At last. I've been waiting like 2 months for these to go on sale again.
Went there today and picked up 5 spindles of +R. All of the Verbatim +R on the shelves were made in Taiwan, MID code MCCOO4, grade A stuff. These always give me great burns.
Bad news is that the -R's were all newly packaged Verbatims in dark blue outer wrapping, and made in India; never saw these before. I wanted to get some -Rs but only the good stuff.
So I'm afraid that the Taiwan varieties will be disappearing soon giving way to India crap.
If I am near any other Best Buys this week I will see if they have any decent -Rs to stock up on.

Oops - 4got to say that by "spindle" I meant spindle of 50 discs.
Also, a question. Circuit City has "Philips" on sale for only $10.99 per spindle of 50 this week. Anyone ever buy these & know what MID code they are?

Walgreens had Maxell on sale last week, 25 pk spindles for $11 or so. The only 2 spindles of + that they had, were MIJ hitachi in the older +8x speed.
44 cents each with the sale, still too high for MIJ media.
