If it only showed 3gb its not the DVD9 Version of yakuza 2.

My ISO shows 7.71GB on my PC and in Imgburn its 8.28GB

If you downloaded it perhaps its a shrunk version to DVD5

As for all the ones with Modchips, search for your type of modchip and see if is DVD9 capable and if it needs patching or not.

No I don't need screenshots.
I can't tell you why it doesn't work for you after burning it too DVD9

The only ripkit I know of so far for this game is by froid on this forum.
http://www.alucard.cc/forums/index.php?topic=1968.30

Whether it works or not, you would have to ask there.

The PAL version works fine also on DVD9 using ESR r9b and on hdloader8c with no modes.

So just to clarify, at this present moment no one has been able to burn it on DVD9 and got it running on a PS2 without a HD loader?

Yes I have gotten both PAL and NTSC version to work on my PS2.

As I posted on the psx-scene the following:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/59172-dvd9-games.html

Ok I finally have the PAL DVD9 and the NTSC DVD9 working on my SCPH-75001 PS2

I am stubborn and it bothered me since last night to get them working. So finally when I got home this evening, I tried them again.

After giving out advice so much, I thought I should follow my own and cleaned my laser with cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.

The NTSC version plays perfectly now, then tested the PAL which has a 50/60 selector, and it works perfectly also.

Burned as I said before on Verbatim DL DVD+R using Imgburn and burn speed of 2.4x

I load backups best by pressing R2 and disc in. If I don't get the colors after ESR loads, I hit reset and try again.
Could just be my PS2 that acts that way, not sure, but that is what works best for me.

If you have the Matrix infinity Menu installed, you need to check your options for DL support

DVD 9 DL Support
Options:
a. Off ? Doesn?t allow support of Dual Layered PS2 game backups.
b. On ? Allows use of Dual Layered PS2 game backups.

If your laser is good, it should play them just fine.

You have to install the Matrix Infinity Manager to access the menu.
http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=matrix/matrix_tut.html

Triangle - Forces the system to boot the Infinity Manager (if installed - To install, please refer to the Infinity Manager section in this tutorial)

The latest firmware is 1.9.3

http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=matrix.html

You must be careful though if yours is not a true Matrix, but rather a clone then you can not upgrade firmware.

But you can run the Matrix Infinity Manager

Modchips don't need to patch with ESR

You only need to patch with the Toxic DL patcher.

Hey there, im new to this whole modding ps2 stuff so i was wondering how to check my firmware version? or modchip?
mine is the ps2 slim version 77006

i got this game disc actually and really really want to play it, its in DVD9 3.0++GB and i was able to play it but sadly the game sometimes hang/stuck on some scene on me for a bit.

I read a lot of websites saying that some ps2 model arent able to play dvd 9 properly. so can i actually change the game from dvd 9 to dvd 5 that have two disc? will it bypass the error of chapter 9?

i really dont want to send my ps2 slim to a shop and paid them to upgrade its firmware version. is it easy to do so by yourself? or do you have to open the ps2

Without knowing what modchip you have its hard to know your firmware version.
To know what modchip you have, you would basically have to take the PS2 apart and look at the motherboard.

Or ask whom you purchased it from?

What media did you burn it too. Brand name and DVD-R or DVD+R. DL media.
Are you sure it was the DVD9 version you burned. What size is the ISO.
I am just asking cause you say its 3.0GB++

The error after chapter 9 usually only happened when people were first making the ripkit for Yakuza 2.
That doesn't happen on the DVD9 version of the game when burned.

It is fixed now in the new ripkit.
