Thanks

There isn't a ripkit available yet.
Keep checking alucard.cc/forums until there is one.
The DVD9 version works great using ESR r9a though.

there's atleast 2 different versions of the game floating around the torrent websites that are compressed to 3 gb size and the author says that he used cddvd gen 2.00 and imltoiso.
are they valid ?

Well you could try since you might only coast a DVD as opposed to a DL-DVD. But the guy who did the rip does not even have a PS2 so even he dosent know if it works or not(I mean WTF kind of crap is that) and he probably did a generic rip so its up in the air whether it actually works or not.
BTW has anyone managed to burn it on a DVD9 and got it to work?

hi, i have a question, what is this ESR thing ? google searches seem to suggest that its something to be used on un modded or soft modded consoles ..
so, say if i have a regular chip modded ps2, the dvd9 version of yakuza 2 will work on that right ?

Haha that was exactly what I was gonna ask. Also do I still need to use the Toxic patch with the ESR r9a patch? I would also like the steps to burning a DVD9 backup cause I totally forgot how to burn one, not may DVD9 games about.

awesome, so to get this straight, my modchipped ps2 should play the dvd9 backup without any form of external patching to the iso, yes ?
sorry if i sound like im repeating myself, im just extremely new to the backup scene.

If your going to use ESR r9b to load Yakuza 2, then you will need to patch it with both.

is there any method of finding out which one i have without opening my system ? because i bought my ps2 pre modded, and i have no idea right now which mod it has installed.
all backed up and copied discs from any region work fine on it, if thats what you meant. I haven't had any troubles with running games on it.

Well first how do you play backups?
Do you have a modchip, swap magic, exploit?
The method I posted is for using fmcb and ESR
The ISO would have to be patched with both ESR Disc patcher and Toxic DL patcher.
If you have a newer modchip capable of playing DVD9, then you just need to burn it to the DL discs.

You still don't tell me what modchip you have?
But if you have a modchip installed, say like a DMS4 in your PS2 you don't need to patch the DVD9 ISO
The chip has its own auto patcher.
I think it won't matter though if you patch it anyway with the toxic dual layer patcher and then burn it.
Just google your modchip and it will tell you.

Hi, sorry to barge in but i am haveing a few problems with said game too.
Since smokyrain got the thing workng, i was wondering if you coul give a hand too. I have a crystal 2.0 modchip and i was wondering if by aplying the two patches it would be enough to make the thing work.
I have tried toxic patcher but its not working.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

The Crystal Chip 2.0 supports DVD9 and has its own DL patcher
Quote from Crystal Chip BOOTMANAGER
"DVD+R DL Patcher automatically patches PS2 DVD9 games to allow you to use DVD+R DL Dual Layer medias without needing to apply patches to the disc."
You need to burn on Verbatim DL DVD+R at 2.4x speed and no need for you to patch it with anything.
