Is there a way to check without DLing the tool if your madden PSP is moddable? I forgot to tell my bro to check what Firmware it came with but if it comes to it Ill DL the tool, Thanks for the thread Binkie, Hopefully this will clarify if im making the MMS wrong or just stubborn enough to admit its not hackable...

If you still have the box check the barcode (see link in 1st post). That's been reported as another way to check it.

You can also try modding it and see what happens. Worse case I think is you would still have official firmware.
Use this guide to mod it:

I'm not sure where that pic or example is from - it may be the US.

If the rainmms doesn't do it give the other guide a shot.
Hopefully using either one you'll be successful.

Ive tried the guide you gave me before, unlike some people I look before I post ( no flame )

I guess its just unhackable, Ill just buy gripshift or keep an eye on it, maybe that guy will exploit it further...

Thanks for helping

If a PSP 2000 that has a firmware version below 4.01, for example 3.6, does this mean that it can be modded? Can an official firmware be downgraded to another official firmware of 3.6?

The reason I'm asking these question is I'm planning to buy a used PSP 2000 and I want to make sure that it can be modded. I read that if a PSP 2000 that has motherboard of TA-88 version 3 that it cannot be modded. And it also seems that they are associated with firmware version 4.01 and higher.

Please confirm if this is the case. Thx in adv.

Yes it sounds like that psp can be modded.

I would guess you could possibly downgrade ofw but since it's an older psp then you should be good.
