I've gotten erros like this from time to time when reading my discs. What do they mean? Why do they appear? How can I solve this error?
Thnx!

means that the disk is dirty.... or sometimes it just can't read it, and that's why they say it's dirty! meaning scratches or just bad media! the redundancy part means that it tried and tried to read it and gave up........ that's what became redundant. just my thoughts.

It says that your burner dosen't like the disc, usually due to mars, smudges or bad pressings of the original. If DVD Decrypter won't read it, replace it.

try cleaning your disk but if your drive still doesn't want to read it and you still get the "redundancy erro" get a new disk! that's your only hope! clean it and see if you can do better!~ otherwise your drive just doesn't want to read it..... oh....... there's one more thing........ maybe with a firmware update your drive will read that disk! but if it's a store bought DVD..... just return it and get a new one!

Shrink will also give this error for the newer copy proections that it can't handle. As bilbo65 said run it through Decrypter.
BTW what's the movie?

It's a home made video! I authored it with DVDLab Pro, burnt it quite time ago (on crappy media must confess) and it was my first time after months trying to read it

There's your culprit - crappy media. Your disc sounds like it's started to degrade. Try decrypter if that can't rip it nothing can.

I have gotten a bad one to work before by dragging it to the hard drive and doing Clonedvd2 straight from the hard drive. You might try it.

kOkOmO...... now the truth comes out...... burnt on crappy media...... if you can't use DVDDecryter to copy it to your HD then I don't think you're going to do much with it! When bad media goes bad it's dead! At least that's been my experience! good luck!

don't you just hate how bad media causes SOOOO many problems for SOOOO many people? can i take a wild guess that it's a CMC MAG manufactured disc? hehe. if DVD Decrypter won't rip it or the simple drag and drop to hard disk won't...well, that should be a sign to use GOOD QUALITY media in the near future for your home and store bought dvd backups~ :) Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim would be my suggestions...
Recommended Media:
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

I now admit I'm coming to realize (late) the importance of good quality media.
This disc was one of my very first made and I was unaware of those things...
How sad...

kOkoMo........ You're not alone! Many new comers used the Memorex crap that was so easily and readily available in the stores! I was one, too...... but since learning, and still evolving with AD I only buy Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxel, or Verbatim...... my real choice is the Taiyo Yuden and Sony (made by Taiyo Yuden) for they are the best!!!! Verbatim would be my second choice! If you stick to those you won't have these problems in the future!

Didn't we all, and then you end up on AD trying to preach the merits of good media versus bad.

Arnie...... check out my collections in my signature....... I started out with less than 200....... now because of AD and good media........ I haven't had a coaster in almost 300 burns! Perfect backups all the time! All because I joined AD!!!!!

I think AD has a lot of satisfied users. Before I joined I thought Xcopy was the only burning program in existence. Little did I know a whole new burning experience awaited.

I was getting sooooooooo fustrated with my old HP external writer (200i) and I also thought that 321 Xcopy was the only thing out there! ahhahaha wow did AD bring a new experience and a broader understanding of what DVD structure is and how to do it the RIGHT WAY!!!!!!!

There is a chance you can use them. If they are DVD+R they will produce a decent burn (enough to play on some players). Just don't use them for anything important. You can use them for backing up childrens movies as young ones will destroy a disc or scratch it enough so that it no longer reflects light and turns into a nasty gray color. Why waste good media on something that will be rendered useless in about 1 week anyways right?
