I just bought a HP DVD 635I burner , I (use to have a 300I) I installed it and installed the software (NERO) but I use Shrink & Decrypter (both updated) to burn with. The problem is - When I am down with my burner and want to get on the internet, I get messages saying - Phone line busy - which it is not and remote computer wont acknowledge, also not true. So I shut down, and left it off about 1hr later, I can get online. As long as I dont burn anything, I can get online no problem. I have contacted HP, but that was a waste.

My dad knows how you feel. His modem went out of his HP1118x-b pc over a month ago and been trying to get HP to replace it. They keep trying to run these tests on his HP,but how-since he can't get on their website. LOL

Since you have both nero, probably oem version, dvd shrink, and dvd decrypter: I don't know what program you are burning with-either dvd decrypter or nero. I'm also not sure of whay you are trying to backup, original dvd movies or other jpeg/xvid/AVI etc files.

If you are backing up original dvds-ISO or MDS files, then I may be able to help. Any of those other files,I am of no use for you, LOL.

Try removing nero completely off your pc. It can be a little buggy. Use the nero cleantool to do the removal. You can easily get it here:

http://ww2.nero.com/us/Nero_6_Clean_Tool.html

Open up dvd shrink/Edit/Preferences/File I/O tab. If the box ENABLE BURN WITH NERO is ticked, then that is the burn engine. If that box is un-ticked,dvd decrypter is doing the burning.Untick this box and click OK and give her a go and see what happens.

What other dvd programs you got on that pc other than the 3 you listed?

Also anything else you can add like pc specs can also help. The more info, the better.

Your pc specs:Like how I have mine in my signature. It sometimes helps knowing what you have.

Also what version of Nero?

I was making sure you didn't have roxio on your pc. Nero and roxio sometimes clash.

Are you using DVD Shrink to burn with Nero or DVD Decrypter?

Whichever burn program it is,try the other one.Set it up in DVD Shrink just like I posted earlier to see if it is a software conflict.

I just spent 59 mins with HP on dads pc. They finally agreed it was a modem. What sucked, they asked me 4 times if I wanted the extended warranty on it. I said NOT! The warranty sucks! Now they got to send the modem to him and have us install it!

Over the weekend, I went and uninstalled AnyDVD and now everything is PERFECT. Glad I did not pay for the software, since it does conflict with my drives.
