Alright. I've wasted three CD-Rs on this. I can get SNES Station to run off a CD-R, but I can't get it to read any directories or ROMs off the CD.
My PS2 is a completely unmodded, Chubby, and Model SCPH50001.
I cant use the swap trick because the white tab thing is being blocked off by part of the drive, even after removing the CD tray cover, since I have a newer PS2 and all. I won't buy the Flip-top case mod and I've bought the AR MAX EVO already, and I'm left with no money at the moment.
In my current situation, I need a way to run SNES Station on my PS2 with what I have. Please help me out. I only have two CD-Rs left.
Thanks in advance.

It's to my understanding that you can't play Snes-Station with the AR Max media player, I had the same problems that you had, but once I got swap magic it worked just fine, but don't feel bad, at least you can still play the Pgen right now......

Jesus. I bought the AR MAX for nothing, did I? If I were to buy a Swap Magic, would I even need the AR MAX anymore?
Edit: I just looked into what the swap magic thing does, and I can see that you still need to use the card/knife swap trick. I don't know how it's talking about that when that little white tab is being mostly blocked when the disc is inside the PS2 if you have a newer PS2. I know because I took the CD tray cover off and looked at it, I can't see the white tab after a CD tray goes into the PS2. If there's still a way to move the tab, please tell me how to do so. I could use my AR MAX EVO as the boot disc.
EDIT 2: I've been thinking, and perhaps, is there a way to convert SNES ROMs into Genesis ROMs? They did that with a lot of games for GBA, maybe it's possible for SNES. Probably not, but it's worth a shot.

You can't use the Max disc for a boot disc, now you could use an older version for it but the newer cheat discs don't stop spinning to be able to be swapped, I made the same mistake you did by buying it.
Also my PS2 is 50001 ( version 9) and I've used the slide card before I bought a fliptop. I remember that it took me a few times to under stand it though. It's confussing at first, especially if your not using the official slide card.
But the good news is that you don't have to have the swap magic discs the is a free one called the Cogsawp loader, but no matter wat boot disc or method you use you still have to find a way to swap the discs without pressing the eject button.
look here http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/FAQ9.php I think it might explain thing a little better.
Best Regards

How did you use the slide card trick with a version 9 PS2 if the white tab is blocked?

Never mind. I was able to slide the white tab, I had no idea I could do that. The problem now is that the ARMAX EVO disc continues to spin even when it's asking to make sure the disc is in right. If anyone could provide me with step by step instructions on how to run SNES Station using the ARMAX EVO, that would be great.

If you use the memory card exploit, do you still need to use the Swap trick?

From that guide it looks like you use ARMAX to boot the exploit disk. It does work, but a lot of people have trouble with it.

Thanks, I'll look into this. If there's any other ways to boot up SNES Station so it can actually read the ROMs off my CD-R, then link me/tell me.
Thanks again.

Here's an alternate guide from JJax. You may want to contact him, he's a lot more familar with ARMAX than I am.: Hey man, got my ARMAX do help me out at last! - here's what i done:
1. Download Cdloader (cdload75.elf) from ( http://www.console.iscentral.net/download.php?view.24 )
2. Burn it to a cdr using max media creator PC software (you can add mcloader and other elfs if you like)
3. Put your burnt cd into your ps2 when u've loaded max media player.
4. Select cdload75.elf and it will load (more .elf files will load from your cd than from pendrive cause of the way they're programmed)
5. When it loads, press eject on the ps2 and put in an official ps2 cd game.
6. Next use a slide tool to pull out the tray and replace it with a compiled MC expolit disc. Press X to load the disc.
7. The MC exploit will install all its files on the MC and once you put in your ps1 game, you can load any elf file off the mc. (NO MOD required)..
This is the way i've cracked the problem recently, and it runs a dream, for cogswaploader.elf, mcloader.elf, ps2media.elf and pgen.elf.
My simple guide to the software you need for making the exploit disc etc. is at the bottom of the last page on this thread:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/19/109289
Cdloader will definitely load off an Action Replay cdr.. and this is the key to installing your exploit which will do all the work from there onwards.
Hope this helps you man, cause it took me a couple of months to figure it out myself.

Thanks, but I looked at that and all it tells you how to load the MC Exploit onto your memory card, which I can do just using the PSX disc and my USB Flash Drive. So, what I need to know is how to use the memory card exploit to run SNES Station and have it detect games on the CD.

Oh, I know PGEN will work after you update it, I just used it today. SNES Station is what I got an ARMAX EVO for though. That SNES Station tutorial just tells you how to create a CD, what I want to know is how to use the exploit to run SNES Station so it can read the games off a CD-R.
Thanks again.

Yeah I'm not sure about that. I have some damn studying to do and as I live in FL, hurricane Wilma is bearing down upon us. Theorectically wouldn't you just use your exploit to run Snesemu.elf off the burnt CD-R? I'm not real familar with ARMAX Evo, so if that is a dumbass question, I apologize. I'll keep looking.

Thank you.
Really all I would do is load the trigger disc and then do something with that, so after I use the AR MAX EVO I wouldn't need to do so again, I think. So I would load the trigger disc and then do something with whatever it causes to load off the mem card. I'm really not sure, though. I'll try to get a friend to come over to let me have an old PSX game he hates, then I'll load the exploit and see what it gives me.

Yeah man, that'll work once you've got your ps1 game --> you'll only need your ARMAX disc to load the exploit installation cd. After then, your ps1 game will boot the files off the mc.

Alright, but how would I run SNES Station so that it can work perfectly using this exploit?
Jesus Christ, I need my friend to let me borrow that PSX game.

Do what I did, take off the cover, and unscrew the top of tray, and then tape up the back end of the cover, so it stays, all you have to do is clean it every now and then, and put a game box up on it or else it'll make a noise of the disk getting slack. Or you can build your own ps2 flip top

What I mean is, what procedures should I use, what programs(.ELFs), etc.
I can use the card swap trick just fine.

thought you said in the original post you couldn't .. ok. use cogswap, if you need a list then here:
-Start PS2 with exploit and load CogSwap.
-Press the eject button on the PS2 and insert an Original PS2 disc. DVD for a DVD backup or a CD for a CD backup.
-Press eject to close the tray.
-Once the disc is loaded, press the circle button to refresh the TOC.
-Using a slide card or fliptop, swap the original PS2 disc with your backup.
-Once disc has loaded, press X button to play.

If you have the money to spend, pick up Swap Magic 3.6. It'll boot SNES Station and PGen without issue. It's only around $20. I never recommend the MC exploit, yuck too much hassle.

Well, the exploit thing is free, though I will have to get a DVD-R to burn since I only have three PS2 games and they're all DVDs. Anyway, the only extra step after loading the exploit onto the mem card is to put a bought PS2 game into the PS2 and then swap it.
Like I've said before, installing the exploit will be easy enough thanks to the ARMAX EVO.
I do want to try loading CogSwap using ARMAX's media player and the USB drive and then go with the normal steps. It seems like it can work. If it doesn't, then I'll load the exploit onto the mem card and go from there, though I see no reason why CogSwap wouldn't work this way. Actually, I'll try it now, just to load it. I don't have any DVDs or a DVD burner, so I need to ask my friend to help me out with that as well.
Thanks for all the help, again.
EDIT: Alright, it freezes. Damn. Either way, I have to wait for my friend to let me go over and burn a DVD and whatnot. Oh well.

Yeah just stick with JJax on this one. It's a pain to master the MC exploit, but once you do it'll be okay. People have done it, it just is very software intensive and if you're not real experienced with this stuff, can be very time consuming. Hell it took me 2 weeks to get Breaker Pro and a slide card to work, and that's a lot easier than what you're attempting. You can do it.
