I'm gonna need your Nero log before I can say anything definite. But it sounds like your drive isn't recognizing the disc you are using? May I ask the model number of you drive, the firmware, and what type of disc you are using. I would say update you firmware here's a link find your drive's name and so on and so forth.
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php
I'm still going to need that burn log, it should be in Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.

Thank you - Sorry but some of what you said is over my head. But I will try my best to supply the information. model DRX-810UL
using fujifilm DVD+RW
When I bought this yesterday at a chain electronics store they were not sure if I would need + or - because it is foreign video clips and I use a region 2 or region free dvd player that I hope to play these dvd's on. I have my clip saved to my desktop as the store person suggested so that I can download but when I try it says something about "no compatible file found". Thank you for any ideas and help.

It is a Sony DRX-81OUL and yes it came with the Nero software , installed it. I looked at the site but I have not a clue what firmware is so I do not want to add to my problems by plowing ahead without a clue and really making a mess of it.
Thank you

I'm just going to assume your firmware is out dated, but with no burn log my replies are as useless as... well your reply w/o out a Nero log. Again it should be in Ahead\Nero\Nerohistory. I can't seem to find your drive on that site, but I found a site w/ step by setp instructions.

If you don't know how to get to Nero log jsut search it.

..was just passing...
your Nero log lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

If you don't know how to get to that just open start and so a search for "NeroHistory". It'll pretty long but like creaky said we really only need the last log.

Your nero is out of date, current version is 6.6.0.16, but I don't think that should cause too much probs.

You have Nero's InCD packet writing thing, get rid of it using's Nero's own tool.
I can't seem to find firmware for your burner. Apparently you are burning a CD, I thought you were burning a DVD.

Thank you - so uninstall the Incd part of Nero software installation - I just bought this on Sunday and it is out of date.
I was not trying to do a cd it is a dvd that I wish to do. And that is confusing to me also. But I think it is my fault - as I got slightly emphasis on slightly more familiar with Nero I found a way to try dvd. Any feed back greatly appreciated.

Are you using Nero ROM or Nero Express. I think you are just choosing teh wrong option in Nero. In the box it will have your burner listed several times, you jsut have to choose the one that has "DVD" in prenthesis next to it.

Thank you everyone - yes it is so new to me that I am making dumb mistakes - the last poster suggested just the wrong option and I looked and realized what they meant. So I did burn the dvd - it said successfully - just not successfully to me - in the lasonic player I have it just showed "nav 1" and two columns that both said "root". Hope this means something to someone. But at least I am a step forward - just the dvd does not play.

Thank you - HEre is the latest log and I looked again at the Lasonic message and it was "smart nav1" and to columns that both only have "root" written in them and that is it. It is trying to read something -

I don't get this. How can it say burn succesful if it only wrote 1MB? And where is the list of all the drivers, did you get rid of teh INCD thing? update your Nero, you should get packet one and two only when you update Nero.
And this message is in your player? Have you trie dit in diff players? I've never seen that message before.

I only have one player - I tried to uninstall INCD but could not find it when I went to the Add/Remove in Control Panel. So I guess I better just reinstall everything.
I should download a newer version of Nero?
And I am not sure what is packet 1 and packet 2.
Thank you for your patience and help.

The INCD thing isn't going to be in control panel. It's a part of Nero. You have to uninstall Nero but you have to COMPLETELY uninstall it using Nero's clean tool, and then reinstall but this time choose to not install INCD ,when you are given teh choice during the installation process. Here's the link.

Thank you - that site is not working for me - the unavailable white screen comes up instead but I did uninstall. It will only be successful or complete if I use this site for cleanup?

@sumuba -
Quote: Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-810A> Version: 2.0b
- can't find any info on what the latest firmware version is for this drive, it's a very new model, so there may be now NEW firmware out for it, but i've yet to confirm what the CURRENT firmware revision is..
Quote: Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ?
- that question mark is ok as it looks like the burner is external
Quote: Physical memory : 238MB (244464kB)
Free physical memory: 35MB (36668kB)
Memory in use : 85
- wow, 256MB is not good, i recommend 512MB as a sufficient amount. Either way you've got virtually nothing left. With only 256MB to start with you'll have to try real hard to free up more of that memory by closing down as much as you can prior to all dvd work/burning
Quote: Finalize CD : FALSE
Multisession : TRUE
Multisession type: : Start multisession
- just checking, were you intending to burn multisession discs ?
Quote: Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 607 ( 0:08.07, 1MB)
- hmmm, that is a little odd - did you only select a tiny amount of data for this burn ?
Quote: Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-810A, Media type: DVD+RW
- a-ha - the burner's firmware is either out of date, or the firmware's up to date and the media you're using is too new for the firmware to know what to do with (or both!). when the firmware's able to properly recognise media you'd get a 3line paragraph similar to this example Quote: Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-530A, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: TDKG02 - 000000
Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193
Quote: Burn process completed successfully at 4x (5,540 KB/s)
- hmmmm...not sure about that..

Thank you for all the help. I will look again after work. It is only a 16 minute clip - but it should be 1000k I believe.
