I have been using dvd shrink and dvd decrypter for a while now and as soon as I installed nero 7 all of my burns turn into coasters. I don't drink that much. Is there any other software that conflicts with Nero 7.
Also now I am having a problem just writing simple files to my cd-r. I uninstalled Nero and then tried another burn and it came out better. Atleast it was readable. But I forgot that I decrypted the files while Nero 7 was still installed. I need some help.My firmware is up to date and drivers as well.
Dvd Software installed:
Dvd Fab,,,,,,crap
Dvd decrypter,,,,,,,,,never a problem
Dvd shrink,,,,,,,,,,,," "

Well I just got Nero 7 ... hope will find time to get it installed and tested.

With Nero a common problem is caused when you install InCD. Did you install that?

na i did not install that. I just uninstalled Nero total wipe and installed the updated version. Then this time I did install incd cause i thought that might have caused something so we will see.

- as your burner is internal to the PC, that question mark is saying your ATAPI drivers still aren't loaded correctly, try to fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

- wow where's all your free memory gone ?. 512MB is sufficient total memory but something's pinched it all. you need to close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory

- InCD is Nero's horrid 'packet writing software', uninstall Nero then uninstall completely via Nero's Clean Tools, then reinstall Nero WITHOUT installing InCD

ie as per flip218's reply, uninstall InCD..

Also, the ATAPI drivers are supposed to be listed in this section, that'll be fixed by fixing the DMA settings as per further up my reply

well i downloaded the aspi thing but I am confused on the installation. It says to open the install.bat but wants to specify what os it is for. xp32 for PENTIUM 1\2\3\4 and xp64 for Itanium. Whitch one should I use for the command since I am using a amd xp 1800. That is not on the list.

http://force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl/

run killaspi, then instapsi ... then reboot.

from that same link get aspi check. check to see if your aspi was changed after the Nero install. If it was just re-run ForceASPI again.

Ok now Nero is burning but I am getting a bad burn with it. I burn at 4x so it is not like I am burning to fast. I went throught the movie and found where it was skipping and then went to the file to see if it skipped on the file and it doesent. Which tells me that it is the burn not the rip. Now what do I do to fix that. I was burning fine for a long time so I would love to fix this problem. Please help

I thought that there was only a log if there was an error. Because The burn completes but at bad quality. Where do I find the log if there is one?

All burns, good and bad, are appended to c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. It must automatically housekeep itself as its cleared down now and then..

hi, you're almost there now, the question mark is there still and the atapi drivers still aren't loaded correctly - try redoing the DMA fix..

well I did the force aspi angain (uninstall.bat then install.bat) and did a fake burn to get a log and it still came up with the question mark. Is there a conflict when the two burners are on atapi port 1?

Just to be sure ...

You downloaded forceASPI 1.8 and ASPI check from here:
http://force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl/

And you ran killaspi then instaspi.
