To test if you're using the slide card correctly you don't need to use the swap magic discs at all... instead of ejecting the tray, pull it out with slidecard..put the original disc in, close the tray and lock it back into position.. then switch the unit on. If the disc doesn't work then you're not using the slidecard properly.

You pull the tray out using the slide card. Put your disc in, PUSH the tray closed, then use the slide card to slide the peg back to the left where it started.

http://www.swapmagic3.com/slidetool-demo.zip

That my good man is actually a video demonstrating how to use the slide tool.

1. Did you At least unscrew the Cover to the Disk Tray? The part with the PS2 Logo.

1a. You should have already booted the Swap Magic and be at the screen that ask you which mode. Change the mode from Normal to NCTS if you Live in America. Or PAL if you live in a country that uses PAL.

2. When you put in the Slide Card put it in on the left on the bottom of the tray. You should fell it hook on to something.

3. When you move it to the right you should fell light resistance. It should still be hooked when you get the the right.

4. You should be able to simply pull the tray out from there.

5. Put the Burned disk in your tray, Push it in with you hand and not the button.

6. Put the Slide Card back at the Left, slide to the Right till you feel it hook. (You may have to move it around just a bit) When you fell it hook slide back to the left, you should feel resistance. Get all the way to the left.

7. With NCTS or PAL seclected on Boot Screen, Press X to boot.

8. That's how you do it.

If if doesn't work, your doing something wrong with burning the disk.

Well, I've got call of duty:big red one, true crime NYC, GTA san andreas and Fahrenheit too... and none of them needed a rebuild or anything special to back them up.

Just use DVD Decrypter to get the iso to hard drive in iso read mode.
Then put DVD Decrypter in iso write mode, select the mds file as the source file...and burn at 4x on good 8x media such as Taiyo yuden, ritek, tdk, sony (there's a thread about good media in the stickies if you're wondering)
Before you burn, make sure your internet connection is turned off, turn off all non essential programs and virus scanner.

good luck

Most people don't download games, its a lot easier getting them from the original. Did you watch that movie that Argg linked to? Is that the way your doing it?

Yeah, for now until you get at least 1 backup working. When you download games, you have to extract them right, burn them right, and thats assuming the game is right to begin with. Maybe your ps2 cant read +r discs, is it kinda old?

+r is newer (i don't know the technical differences). Older ps2 have trouble reading +r discs and your ps2 is older. Try some -r discs, it might solve all your problems.

Same model as mine - V5 or 6... mine's a 5 and definitely prefers DVD-R discs... try them as sly said.

The difference between + and - is that they are different formats and I think they burn slightly differently...

Another thing you could try is booktyping your DVD+R media, you have to enable that on your dvd writer, and not all of them will do it... but it's worth a try. Open DVD Decrypter, put in media, select your drive you want to booktype, go to tools menu... drive...change booktype. select your manufacturers tab, eg NEC.. then select change for.. DVD+R, then click change.

But liek I said, doesn't always work.. try the DVD-R first
