I mean since the size of a BR dvd is around 15gb, will the games be that large? Would be a hell of a game if it was...

Yes ps3 will use BR but probably not for a while, they will stick to DVD9 for the first games. Oh and BD are 24gb, HD-DVD is 15gb.

damn 24gig didn't know that. Should be sweet when they do go that route. How will Microsoft introduce the HD-dvd to the Xbox 360 since it is all ready out?

I think Microsoft has pretty much given up on HD-DVD support for the 360. They might make and external drive just to read movies but for games im not sure what they would do. Just think 24gb of GTA...

Double-layer would be 50GB, a double-sided-double-layer would be 100GB!
Since most playstation 2 games aren't that big (San Andreas is only 2.65GB) I can't see them using all of it... but I hope they do! :)

just think of the extra detail/levels that could be put into a game with that much space. GTA could have about 5/6 different major cities each with there own plot in the game. Could also bring new life to rpg.

San Andreas is 4.35gb and to be honest the graphics were crap but that was made up by the size of the game. With Bluray they could make a GTA that has near realistic graphics and still have a huge city with lots of stuff to do, It would just take a hell of a lot of time to make. Look at God Of War the graphics are awesome and the videos look nearly real and its only 7.5gb, and by the sounds of it there is going to be a GOW for PS3...cant wait...

It looks like I was wrong... I must have been referring to a compressed file-size or something, my mistake.

just think what square/enix could do with the final fantasy fanchise. they could make a final fantasy game that looked like final fantasy: the spirits within. that would rock.

The other upside to PS3 is that it will be able to load all that content quicker, too. If you tried to play that much content on a PS2 you would have to wait in between levels for stuff to load up. It might even be too slow, then.

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

I thought the main number was 25. Answers.com and Blu-ray.com confirm this.

Actually Bluray should be pretty good for PS3 games. Looking at XBox 360 games now. A Japanese RPG called Enchant Arm alread uses 2 DVDs and they might have to use 3. So logically they could have fit that into one Bluray disc. Much easier. So it's better for RPG companies or any other genre that uses up a lot of space for stories, secret stuff, etc. Plus one sports game for the XBox 360 which if I remember correctly was Madden had a lot of features missing so people think it might be because they wanted it on one DVD but couldn't fit it even after compressing everything so they had to take things out. Or they just rushed it. And there are lots of sizes for Bluray so it can fit the genre appropriately. Microsoft should consider making HD-DVD games soon or they'll run out of storage sooner or later.

using DVD9 only was not a good idea. it will cause alot of game developers not to developr on the 360 in later years. games will be just too lage.

360 doesn't support hd-dvd, or there just aren't any games out with it, yet? And if it doesn't support it at all, I thought hd-dvd's main argument was that a large number of dvd players already on the market would be compatible, but the 360 isn't?

Yea microsoft stuffed up bad by not having HD-DVD installed. But it hasnt even been fully made yet has it? been lots of delays from what ive read. From what i can tell HD-DVD is NEARLY the same as DVD so that it can be made in basicly the same way, using the same tech meaning that it doesnt cost as much to produce. But i dont think it will be read by a standard DVD player or 360, maybe with a little modding...
